My son did not want anything for his birthday. He has money, has not spent it. The only thing he says he wants for Christmas is a hoverboard, which I am not keen on and am not even sure are legal. Any suggestions much appreciated!

An experience or season ticket to a local attraction?

MindfulAndDemure · 09/09/2025 11:21

What does he like to do? If you give a bit more info, im sure people will be able to come up with some suggestions that he might like.

He likes playing games on his switch and Xbox, but prefers the same few (roblox/minecraft/fortnite). He plays football, basketball and rugby, does karate and loves all things Japanese. He used to love lego, but has gone off it and has several unopened sets from his birthday.

He loves his trampoline and bike. He is quite active.

He still believes in Santa and I don't want his gifts to look rubbish in comparison to his younger siblings who is really easy to buy for.

Few ideas based on my own boys. Football kit of the team he supports, new football boots. Gaming headphones, ear pods, gaming chair, console charger, led lights for his bedroom, robux gift card, vbucks or an Xbox card he can use for all. Duvet cover for his bed ( football team / gaming / fortnite pattern etc) Accessories for his bike wheels/spokes Pair of nice branded ( cool) trainers. Fortnite or Roblox annual. Speaker to play music on or an Alexa. Hope this helps.

My DS who is the same age would like a drift trike (rip rider thing), and art/craft supplies. Maybe an inflatable punch bag would be good for karate practice?

Some really good ideas from previous posts.

Your boy sounds very similar to my nearly 8 year old and he is quite hard to buy for too!

He does really like getting a plushie, the Pokémon sleeping ones have been a big hit, and on a similar theme, I have started getting him bits of décor for his room too, to make it feel cosier. For example, I've got him a project light before and a character model that holds his PlayStation controller. For this year I'm looking at getting him one of those Jellyfish lights.

He also loves getting sport related things, goalie gloves went down really well even though he's not in a football team yet. Also sensory play toys like slime kits are ever appreciated and offers a nice indoor alternative to gaming.

A bit expensive but would you have room for a gorilla gym? I think they have a different name now: Link

Mine similar age wants an electric guitar 🎸 help my ears 👂

Needspaceforlego · 10/09/2025 12:39

Another thought, does he have a music speaker in his room?

He does. He is v well set up with tech, with gaming chair, lights, headsets, speakers, an alexa. He usually asks for something like that for birthdays or Christmas, but he says he doesn't need anything else like that 🤷‍♀️
