I'm looking for the old-fashioned twinkly type, no bright blue that look like an emergency vehicle is en route!

Aldi usually have some in the middle aisle closer to Christmas. Pickwick style traditional ones.

We have these - incandescent rather than LED so they're not eye-bleedingly bright.

I clicked on this in excitement but it looks like bog standard LED lights.

Am I missing something??

A colleague had some gorgeously gentle lights up at work last year and said they were from Primark. They were lovely, soft colours, like the ones I remember from the pre-LED eyeball shredding days. I will be looking for them myself this year if I'm near a Primark.

I have three boxes of Noma pickwick lights from Amazon that someone recommended here and I’m telling you, they are the ones that you seek! (If you’re after a retro glow of 80’s Christmases past).

I have some from primark , they are years old and they have pink and turquoise, no harsh colours ,really soft .
Every year i dread them breaking as i have not seen any like this since anywhere , i'll look there this year too.

Me too.

Just make sure they say ‘warm white’ on them.

eekwhatnow · 08/09/2025 18:39

Oh sorry, you meant coloured. Apologies!

I love the coloured lights, takes you back to childhood.

I bought fab ones last year in Asda. They were little star shaped plug in LEDs. The colours were pretty…blue, pink, yellow, purple. I bought them in the sale a week or two before Christmas.

OP I looked for ages and eventually found these on lights4fun. They don’t seem to have them this year but I’ve found them on the Freemans site. They are lovely. Multicoloured, lovely old-style shape and they have that lovely soft, deep pink you tend not to see now. There are blue ones in there too but a soft blue - it doesn’t look as though you have an ambulance parked in the room!

Goodness - I’ve realised I said ‘lovely’ three times! They just are though 😊

ScarletWitchM · 09/09/2025 20:43

Anything with an led bulb will be the new style of brightness and flashing (due to the change of ac vs dc current) best bet is to buy some vintage ones on eBay or Etsy

Me too.

The pastel tones ? They were lovely. Shame, I threw them out when I got my cats worrying they would get tangled in them. I have been trying to find singular battery lights in the same colours but no luck

Yes! That’s the ones. They are lovely. I won’t get a cat!
