Liberty Advent Calendar dust bag - ideas for future use

Well after many years of coveting a Liberty advent calendar and a small inheritance from DDad I bit the bullet and bought this year's one. It is gorgeous and came in a wonderful cloth dust bag that is too lovely not to do something with other than shove in a drawer. It is 54 cms x 64 cms so big pillowcase size and thick. Photo attached. I'd love to have some ideas about how I can use it. Thanking you in advance.

I use dust bags like this for travel - laundry bags, for keeping shoes in etc.

I buy ‘fat quarters’ of liberty fabric for the seat pads of my dining chairs so I’d use it for that.

I think I’d get someone to adapt it into a cushion cover .

<Disclaimer> Not bought a High End Beauty Advent Calendar (Holland &Barrett one year , Aldi one year )

You will want to keep the actual box for something - either fill with jewlerry/hairpins/cotton buds etc or fill it next year and give to someine or sell it in eBay .
So the dust bag could be for things that yu put away , maybe for holidays , or DrawerofDoom items?

But like Midnight I;d keep my underwear in it on holiday and swish down to the laundry room with it (on sea days on a cruise )

I would use it as resuseable Xmas gift wrap.

I've accumulated a number of similar (but not liberty) cloth bags over the years and they look lovely under the tree, I don't buy wrapping paper any more.

When I get bags like this I always think I’ll use them for something nice - I end up using them for things like dirty washing on holiday 😂
Not necessary as could always just shove it back in the empty suitcase but makes use of them!

@hattie43 as a temporary measure I have shoved a couple of cushions inside and its on my sofa as we speak. I like the ideea of getting it professionally made though.

@70isaLimitNotaTarget good point! I need a new shelf in my bedroom (for display purposes). The box is gorgeous and I am a "dollhouser" so could use it for my dollhouse bits and bobs

@Saisong great idea but my family is now just my daughter and grandson and they have cloth bags already. I do like using bags instead of wrapping paper though much better for the planet.

@TheChosenTwo I am off on holiday soon and it would definitely be an upgrade from the Tesco bag for life I use for dirty washing at the moment.

Thank you @MidnightPatrol and @ThisIsHowWeDoItThisIsHowWeDoIt for your ideas too.

I think I might trial the holiday laundry suggestion first and then look to get it converted into a cushion cover. Thanks again all.

Ooh, I haven’t unwrapped mine yet but that is lovely! I’ve used my old calendar to store jewellery in.

I use a similarly sized one from Diptyque to hold my bag of bags. A smaller one has got microfibre cloths in.

OMGitsnotgood · 09/09/2025 16:34

Too pretty to be hidden away. I would also adapt it into a cushion cover.
