This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

I spotted a great bargain for an edible flowers seed kit for £3.54, got all excited about being able to contribute to the thread and then realised the postage was £6.99. DOH!

Don’t order anything you aren’t sure about as they’re shit with returns. Some items were fine, others weren’t very good quality. I’ll not use them again after their attitude with the returns.

I ordered towels for holidays and they were very thin and not very absorbent. You get what you pay for I feel.

I only use their towels for lying on when away. The hooded towels are much better for drying.

I had a spat with them over a Trust Pilot review I left which was critical of them. They tried to have it removed as being untrue. However, I won that battle and it remained.

I wouldn't use OHS ever again. Awful Temu style quality and even worse returns procedure. They even sent out dirty products. I was passed about to different people via one email daily from them who all claimed it was the first they'd heard of my return request, basically took a couple of week to get anywhere with them.

Urban Outfitters have buy one book, get one 50% off with code BOOKS. Some good stocking fillers for teen girls - Ramen recipe book and Chappell Roan dress up… also a History of Panini Football Stickers one that works well for DS10… annoyingly you can only get the discount once per order so I ended up making two separate ones! https://www.urbanoutfitters.com/en-gb/books

I agree. Ordered some bedding and the quality was dreadful. Seams weren't straight, loose threads and puckered joins .All polyester. They offered me a 50% refund, which was easier than returning.

We've ordered things from OHS via amazon which helps with returns if needed. Their kids weighted blankets have been good.

Hooded blankets - the standard recommendation is true face hooded blankets which are sold on eBay and Amazon. Someone did a nice list of which ones are actually oodies. They have the labels cut out.

If you’ve got a 7/8 year old, into frozen, this seems a bargain. Or for book day.

Costume, £3.81

Ooh amazing TY straight in my basket 🤣

IlovePond · 29/08/2025 11:17

True Face Oodies, (with labels cut), are excellent, as is their CS. I had a minor query once on one of my orders and they gave me a 50% discount. I wasn’t even complaining!

They don’t call the hooded blankets by the same name as Oodie for copyright reasons presumably, (as they don’t refer to them as Oodies, either), but they are real ones - I have always assumed either slight seconds or excess stock.

Look for the patterns that are the same as on Oodie. E.g. Panda, otter, sloth, pizza.

O no I’m worried now, I’ve placed my first order with them. I’m not too worried about the bedding quality as it’s going on my messy can’t take care of anything teens bed and not expecting much for £6 but really hoping the greasing gowns hit the mark as they are exactly what I’ve been looking for for months.

When using the cashback offers on PayPal - does anyone know if it is PayPal credit only or can you just pay through PayPal with your bank card? Thanks

YewNearsEve · 29/08/2025 11:25

May I join? Not done anything yet to sort this but would like to enjoy the season in good time rather than the yearly stress out in November and hectic Dec.

3678194b · 29/08/2025 12:21

I'd like to keep a watch please! I did order some christmas chocolate boxes early last year, only for them to be reduced in Black Friday sales! So I never know when to get the best bargains really.

About Furbies. I've found they only last about a year. I don't know, and can't remember, if it's easy to change batteries, as DC had lost interest by then.

queenoftheglee · 29/08/2025 12:27

I always feel that OHS gets too much love on this thread. They may have the odd good quality item/bargain, but most is not great. Their returns policy is poor and their customer service is disinterested. I would rather shop elsewhere.

In other news, I ordered with the recent Amazon haul discount. I am pleased with everything that I received - resin animals for advent calendars, bike cleaning and maintenance bits, luggage tags, glasses cleaners, phone covers and football grip socks. All great quality from what I can tell, and a fraction of the price. If a discount pops up again I will be taking another look.
