He loves gardening (but has pretty much everything), birds, nature, walking. Also good wine and whisky, thrillers/sci fi/crime. Hard to buy clothes for because he’s very tall. Not into brands or nick nacks.

Any ideas?

My DH still likes a paper map, so perhaps one of his local area or a good walking area near you

Hip flask, kendalls mint cake and a map to a place he hasn't been? Or something with a selection of snacks to take on walks.

Difficult though, if you have the budget maybe a membership to YMCA or similar so they can go off on walks.https://www.ramblers.org.uk/membership might be of interest.

Boot brush might also be an option, but he's probably got one.

  • Good quality socks (like Smartwool) because they’re the kind of thing that feels pricey to buy for yourself but lovely as a gift.
  • Nature writing, particularly about places he’s familiar with, most book shops have a good selection.
  • Snacks, like flapjacks, nuts, chocolate, those snacky salami
You could make up a little hamper of themed gifts if you think he’d be into that?

Wine or whiskey tasting experience.

RHS garden tour or membership

Does he know of the Merlin app? It identifies the bird song of birds.

Bird box camera kit

PP mentioned socks - I like walking and love tbe feel of new walking socks. We also have a couple of pub walk books - trails that start and finish at a pub. Might there be something like that for your area?
When you have a ‘hard to buy for man’, updgrading or replacing something they already have is better than buying something tbey don’t need or want. I’m hoping DH doesn’t replace his now off-white sports shirt before Christmas, am waiting til December to buy though

You can get him a garden design software license (Gardenbox 3D or similar ones) if he plans any kind of renovation anytime soon.

Smart bird feeder with a camera could be a good idea, there are plenty of options

Is he into taking picture or filming while out and about? If so, you can get him a photo editor or a video editing software. Maybe a good camera bag if he has a camera. Wireless headphones are also a hit for those that love hiking, so maybe look into that as well

Could be just a gift card to a clothing store he likes so that he would find something that suits him.

High quality thermo mug comes in handy if he likes taking long walks when it's cold.
