Where are you buying your 'special' toys?

We like to buy DDs and other family children more of the higher quality or European toys brands at Christmas - janod, djeco, maileg etc but now that kidly is no more, I'm not sure where's best to buy them. We don't have an independent toy shops near us and we won't be in Europe before Christmas to buy them over there. I did a small order from small kins as a trial and it arrived in okish time but the dire reviews means I wouldn't trust a large order. Babipur seems to be more Lanka kade or grimms style.

If your DCs like these style of toys, where have you found the beat selection?

Oh I didn't realise they'd gone too! So have the one I used to use (something Bebe I think)

I'll be interested in answers because I like them as gifts too

I thought ‘special toys’ meant sex toys 😂😂

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 23/07/2025 22:37

Kidly seem to still be selling online?

Same!

Haha oh dear. Sorry this thread definitely disappoints if you clicked on it expecting a festive themed sexy toy chat 😂

Mori bought out kidly so technically they still sell online but its a massively reduced range and definitely not like the Kidly of old.

I've bought from smallkins a few times and found them to be good. Also scandiborn but only used them once, I mainly used yes bebe but as pp said they've closed.

Whirligig might be worth checking out. Theie shop is local to us in W Sussex, so not used the website, bit they have a lovely selection of these types of toys.

@Tooteefrootee thank you, this is just the type of shop I meant so I'll keep a close eye on their site.

I’ve bought Djeco stuff on Amazon before for my niece and nephews?

WilfredsPies · 25/07/2025 20:54

I don’t know if this is the sort of thing you mean, but have you seen Bigjigs Toys? They’re based in Kent and do lots of wooden toys. They’ve been about for ages.

Maybe not the exact brands you're looking for, but Myriad have some lovely items:

Babipur have a whole "sexual health" section, but no "adult toys" as far as I'm aware 😂

We love bigjigs, DD has a couple of their rag dolls and they're one on her fave things. Really lovely toys.

Great Little Trading Co and Wooden Toy Shop sell good selections of all of these brands.

‘Special’ toys and ‘bigjigs’ has me snorting into my herbal tea.

😂whilst an inadvertent mistake, it has done wonders for engagement. Maybe all future threads should feature innuendo.
