How would you do this?

Fancy hotel? Home?
Food wise?
MY fave bit of Christmas is the gifts really- so how could you do it for yourself?

Any ideas gratefully received!

I can't think of anything worse than a fancy hotel at Christmas.
I'd stay at home or rent a house somewhere lovely with places to walk and run nearby, maybe a local pub for a late afternoon pint, ideally a real fire and a view of the sea or mountains, and get lots of low-prep but delicious food in. Take a couple of books and jigsaws and binge watch some TV with numerous glasses of wine.

I’d go away, somewhere really exotic, on a small group tour, so I had people around but could do my own thing too

The year after DH died, I went to Lanzarote for Xmas and New Year.
I've always loved the Island, and thought I could just take things at my own pace.
It worked wonderfully, I swam, walked, ate and drank exactly what I wanted, and actually spent New Years Eve with other 'solos' I had met along the way.
It was an easy way to ignore the traditions we'd built up over the years and to be honest, if I hadn't kept an eye on the calendar, I could have missed the big day altogether!
It was the best gift I've ever bought myself

I think I’d go on a cruise or a holiday island , somewhere warm anyway . As for gifts I’d buy myself something every month and wrap it up hoping I’d forget what is was by Christmas

Cruise
lots of solo travellers
lots to do on board or the chance to do nothing
eat what/when I want
not anywhere hot though, I'd want proper cold , snow
not the damp lacklustre grey

I have actually thought about this!
I would buy a really silky luxurious (comfortable) pair of pyjamas and dressing gown as my ‘Christmas day outfit’.
Go out for a nice long walk in the quiet streets after opening my presents (assuming I got some). Maybe go to church even though I’m not a churchgoer.
A long hot bubble bath (again with some fancy bubbles and maybe some Buck’s Fizz or a Bloody Mary) when I got home.
Christmas lunch would be a buffet type thing- lots of smoked fish, meats and cheese. I’d lounge about in my fancy jammies watching all the Christmas films I like that are usually vetoed (The Apartment), maybe have a wee Christmas dance to myself in the kitchen to Wham, fiddle about with a ridiculous Lego set Santa brought me (The Orca from Jaws)- this is my silly daydream version.
An alternative would be to see if I could work or volunteer with people who needed somewhere to go on Christmas Day- that sounds very worthy, but having worked, it is very Christmassy on the ward and usually it ended up being fun trying to make it as fun as possible for the patients.
