I always used to get the Cath Kidston hand cream trios- they are usually around £8. They also used to do one with a lovely cosmetics bag, hand cream and sanitiser that was a similar price.

Iridescentdragon · 06/08/2025 18:37

Skechers Bobs trainers - the white pair is a great price just now, I got a size 8 for under £20

Looking for suggestions for food related advent calendars. I was thinking of getting a couple for my parents for Christmas. I know Degusta do one but wasn’t sure what others there may be.

i don’t want to get anything cheese related as I did that for my dad earlier this year.

Onemoret1me · 06/08/2025 19:44

That next hair box looks great. Are they available at the price all year or will there be a discount? Just trying to work out whether to buy now or nearer to christmas

Hi,

I am looking for gift ideas for the staff at my child’s nursery. I don’t know them very well, so I’d like something fairly generic. Ideally around the £4–£7 mark per person. I’d also prefer something I can buy in bulk that’s all the same type of gift, but with a bit of variation (like different flavours, colours, or scents) if that makes sense.

Any suggestions appreciated and thank you for this wonderful thread that is so helpful every year!

I've done inital Mugs with hot chocolate and coffee in, then reed Diffusers or candles from supermarkets with a small milk tray box(£1), tray of cupcakes & packs of face masks and nail polishes for them to choose and nice lip balms(burt bees or Niva) and small wines or cocktail cans! I've done it each time my DS moved rooms lol

Theimpossiblegirl · 06/08/2025 20:47

For the nursery staff I would do a Costa gift card, maybe in a cheap mug or coffee cup. Then they can get themselves a treat.

I’ve just done plant pots for DD1s nursery leaving gifts (all ordered from baker ross pack of six is a tenner and then you can get a new account discount code) and then got DD1 to decorate them (using some ceramic marker pens and varnish) they have worked out relatively cheap for a leaving gift but also something nice they can keep hopefully 🤞alternatively in the past at Xmas etc I’ve just bought a big tub of celebrations for them all to share instead of individual gifts

Newnamesagain · 06/08/2025 22:23

For nursery gifts I've always done nice biscuits with long dates on them for the staffroom. Try to get a a mix so something everyone will like and they can enjoy them when ready to.

We got the in laws the hotel Chocolat calendar last year that is for two people. There are two truffles behind each door which they had with their mid morning coffee. It was very well received.

I'm looking for ideas for a 13 year old girl max £20. I normally order off Amazon with gift delivery and am happy to do that (or other retailers that will deliver it wrapped) but am stumped for what to get her.
She's into fashion and makeup but not jewellery.
Or ideas for what shops girls that age would like a gift card for!

DD 13 loves these, I thought I had a good deal at £20ish but now £12.50.

lakrids do a lovely advent if they like liquorice - two sweets a day, I get one for my dads partner every year - its sold at a few places but if you buy direct from Lakrids you can normally get a freebie and also they have a tasting club membership where you get a free sample with every order

For anyone who ordered the gin making kit at the beginning of the week, just check the best before date. Mine is best before 06/2023 so not really suitable as a gift. I bought it for myself so not too bothered.

@Iridescentdragon

reviews are saying sizing is on the generous side, would you recommend going down a size? (although they're more expensive)

🌻Thank you

Would these be too girly for boys ranging from 8 - 18 years?

mumonthehill · 07/08/2025 16:42

@zacsGranny ds had these a few years ago in his stocking and he loved it! He would have been 15/16.

They're fairly generous but not majorly so I wouldn't say. Im an 8-8.5 and sometimes a wide fit depending on the shoe and an 8 in this style fits me fine
