Didn't there used to be a thing with Amazon if you purchased something and the price went down you could get the difference or did I dream it?

I think they used to or maybe its just for black friday? I bought something earlier this week then the next day was prime day and it was cheaper (bad bargain hunter me forgot all about it). I went on the help chat to ask if they would honour the price. The 1st response was a chatbot that said no so I asked to be connected to a real person. That person also said no until I pointed out that I could simply return my original item and reorder it at the new lower price which would not only cost amazon money but also have an environmental cost. Lo and behold they agreed to refund the difference. Although intriguingly when the refund came through it had been applied to a completely different, unrelated order 🤷‍♀️

Are you not thinking of when you pre order something?

imnottoofussed · 11/07/2025 19:38

I think it’s Black Friday that they do that I’m sure I’ve had money back previously

WhyDoesItAlways · 11/07/2025 20:25

I've had that with amazon but can't remember if it was black Friday or prime day. I think it only applies to products sold by Amazon and not third party sellers that drop in price within a certain amount of time frame since the sale but I can't remember the full details

Help for any last min teacher gifts needed! Was going to get the chilly bottle but it won’t get delivered even with prime in time. Teacher is in her second year of teaching- budget around £15. She took the class on a residential which was much enjoyed by them all

youreactinglikeafunmum · 11/07/2025 21:54

Would it be a good idea to buy helium balloons for dd's classmates (5 autistic boys) do you think? Just star balloons for 2 pounds each

I would check with the teacher first. I have worked with several autistic children that have been terrified of balloons- presumably due to the unpredictable nature and loud noise of them popping.

do they like balloons?
i probably wouldn’t personally as my boy is scared of them so would trigger a meltdown for us.

Okay thank you both, will ask the teacher xx @sunshineandrain82

Last year I took in donuts but I'm avoiding sugar for dd now so stuck

I could do a 60p bubble wand from Asda for each kid, but I dont like them for dd, they never work well

sunshineandrain82 · 11/07/2025 22:57

@youreactinglikeafunmum we tend to buy the wands ourselves.

but possibly sensory toys etc might be popular. Our school for September it just seems they eat a lot of cake. For staff and children’s birthdays 🤷🏼‍♀️ seems a easy job for me there

I love cake so much but have had to give it up so I can enter 2026 as my sexiest self 🤭

But agree thats you sorted, just some lovely, different cakes and bakes

The wands might be the safest bet - i can imagine the helium balloons flying away causing upset as well

sunshineandrain82 · 11/07/2025 23:08

@youreactinglikeafunmum
gestational diabetes here with a cake craving that I’m no longer able to satisfy 😰

not just that the bang if they burst can be quite overwhelming as well we find.

it’s so difficult isn’t it as you can’t predict. Crayons as gifts are the bane of my existence. Don’t mind pencils but dd5 also autistic will usually consume them before I’m aware any are in existence.

Timetochangenow · 12/07/2025 06:43

@sunshineandrain82 the gestational diabetes.co.uk website has recipes including a chocolate cake and Victoria sponge that are delicious and definitely hit the spot. Some are membership payable but worth a look.

Wellwhoknewthat · 12/07/2025 07:49

@watchuswreckthemic if you have an argos or sainsbury near you I 100% recommend the SMASH double walled stainless steel water bottles. Got a really nice turquoise one half price yesterday. They genuinely keep your water cool all day.

PearlsPearl · 12/07/2025 07:59

@youreactinglikeafunmum stick a blob of Fairy liquid into the wands and they become foolproof. Honestly works!

watchuswreckthemic · 12/07/2025 08:00

@Wellwhoknewthat oh I do! Great tip thank you

LonelyMom123 · 12/07/2025 09:24

@PoodleMum23 thank you for sharing the Eugy bargain, my youngest loves them. Our local Smyths had 9 out of the 10 reduced ones so we gave him one yesterday for getting a good school report and put the rest up for Christmas.

ChristmasMad1 · 12/07/2025 14:09

Does anyone know where I can buy fairly cheap presents for kids (age-8-16) which is not temu, shein etc. ?

PoodleMum23 · 12/07/2025 15:37

Glad it helped @LonelyMom123 😍

Groundbreaking · 13/07/2025 20:07

Amazon has Hatchimals on sale for £19.99, down from £65. I’m attaching a photo and hoping it works!
