I've been after one for a while now but they're are very expensive. Just heard they have a sale in July. Am I right in thinking it's all half price? Does anyone have one and can recommend or no?

Thank you in advance 😁

It’s not half price but you’ll get a good price.
I bought last July and this is the tree I bought and the price I paid.

I got mine in the July sale too I think it was about a third off, not half off.

Beautiful tree though had it 5 years now and still looks brand new.

I got one for free from a relative and honestly, it was terrible. I was shocked at the quality and it didn't have the "bushy" look I was expecting once it was all set up and fluffed out. Gave it away and am sticking with my B&Q cheapo.

Ive got one and don’t think it’s worth the money

I love mine, had it about 4 years now. It does take time to set up to get the fullness...I normally set aside 3 hours for it, that's without decorations on!

I've heard this too. For the price that's disappointing 😕

I’ve had mine for over 10 years now and it still looks brand new. As PPs have said, it takes a while to learn how to plump it up each year but it really does look good.

My mum brought one of these in the ‘sale’. I think it looks very plastic and think the ones you can buy in my local garden center or John Lewis are better.
It is VERY heavy to move in its storage bag and is too heavy to lift into the loft.
The advert does not match the reality in my opinion.

I got mine on eBay a few years ago: £35. No one else bid. You take a chance, but sellers are very good in the past few years, since it started.

They get more expensive nearer Christmas.

If you go into eBay and do a search for Christmas trees, or just Balsam, scroll down the left hand column until you come to ''completed listings'' and click on it. You will get a list of all the Christmas trees sold - and unsold - and what they sold for. It will also tell you how many people bid for them.

You can do that with anything on eBay. Jolly useful too if you want to sell something. It tells you what similar sold for and how many bids.

I live in a townhouse. I purchased one of their flat back trees, which is half a tree. Works perfectly in our space. It’s now 10 years old and looks just as good as when we got it.

Bearsinmotion · 12/06/2025 19:41

I also love my Balsam Hill tree!

poochiemaloochie · 12/06/2025 20:03

I got mine last year from a brand Everlands, ultra realistic and about half the price of a balsam hill. Everyone thinks it’s real, they do pre lit and all different sizes 🎄

Bigoldtable · 12/06/2025 20:05

August bank holiday weekend is when they seem to be cheapest. I’ve got 2 and I love them. The “flip” ones are the best. Literally wheel it out, flip it over, put the top on and plug it in. Takes 2 minutes for the perfect lit Christmas Tree.

JessicaPeach · 12/06/2025 20:18

I've had one and didn't rate it, I sold it for more than I paid for it though! (Got it on an offer during the summer one year and sold it in December a couple of years later). I replaced it with a b&q one, I forget what they are called but it's a lovely tree

Donna2119 · 12/06/2025 20:21

Bought one a few years ago. Disappointed with the price I paid. Wasn’t as bushy as it looked in picture. In loft don’t use now.

FirstFallopians · 12/06/2025 20:25

My sister and I have one each and we’re both fans.

Would never pay full price, and personally wouldn’t pay the premium for the pre-lit versions, but I am glad I got it. It’s sturdy, looks full when you take the time to arrange the branches properly and I can see myself wheeling it out for the next 20 years+

Snugglemonkey · 12/06/2025 20:30

I love ours. I want another, but will go flip tree this time. There are lots of models, but ours is very bushy and looks amazing.

ReginaPhalange12 · 12/06/2025 21:40

Last year I ordered 4 different trees from various websites & wasn’t happy with any of them, I thought BH was too expensive and couldn’t imagine it’d be worth it but in the end ordered one and couldn’t be happier. I did manage to get it in the Black Friday sale though
