Anyone else sad that Christmas is over for another year?

Sept-Dec is possibly my favourite time of year.

I absolutely love Christmas and everything about it. The whole of December feels magical.

My dc are getting older and I think we've possibly had the last year of Santa. We might just get away with one more year.

The absolute joy of the dc opening their presents, I wish I could bottle it.

The years seem to be going faster and faster. I wish I could repeat last week and do it all again. Anyone else?

Not even one bit 😂 the expense, the pressure, how exhausting it is. Glad it's done for another year.

Tetchypants · 30/12/2024 18:33

Nope.

Next.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 30/12/2024 18:34

Yessss! We've come away for Christmas and although it was fun and we still did lots of our traditions on the lead up to going away/while we're here, I feel cheated out of Twixmas 😂 So here begins the countdown to next September, when it's socially acceptable to start planning again (though my secret lists run year round) ✨

Covidwoes · 30/12/2024 18:36

God no. Mine are 6 and 3, and their joy is lovely, but the 3 year old's tantrums have been off the scale this year due to too much excitement, being out of routine, over stimulation, tiredness etc. I also hate the clutter of Xmas, and can't wait to tidy all the decorations away! I like this period, when the festivities are over, but you can relax a bit more.

Thewrongdoor · 30/12/2024 18:36

No, it’s still Christmas! We aren’t even half way through.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 30/12/2024 18:36

Sorry but no. I can't keep up with days, I don't know where I am.

Each year I vow that I'll do Christmas different. I'll try again for 2025... watch this space Grin

midgetastic · 30/12/2024 18:38

It isn't over here

decorations still up , a few more parties are planned , plenty of telly to catch up with and plenty of lovely food still to come - we just got the cheeses today because I hate having it all at the same time and then not being hungry enough to enjoy anything properly

But we don't start till December really

makingdecisionsforme · 30/12/2024 18:40

No, I couldn't be happier it's over. I have a 12 week old and 2 year 3 month old. It's been really challenging. I've realised I don't do postpartum well at all. Cannot stand the weight gain, swelling everywhere, not wearing what I want to, breastfeeding is not for me and let's not start on sleepless nights, arguments with DH because we are stressed and the never ending clutter that come with newborns. I'm so excited not to have the extra mental load of Christmas on my plate.

mollymazda · 30/12/2024 18:40

nope... christmas is a nightmare! its ridiculously expensive, it starts way too early in the year now. family spend so much time and effort portraying the 'perfect' christmas, get themselves into debt, get into arguements and then when the big day finally arrives it turns into an anti-climax.

DH and I have decided next year we are going to go away for the week! its exhausting

MostHighlyFlavoredGravy · 30/12/2024 18:40

Nope, still enjoying my geese a-laying!

stargirl1701 · 30/12/2024 18:41

Nope. It's not even New Year yet. At least of week of Christmas yet to go.

RaininSummer · 30/12/2024 18:41

I love Christmas too. I know it's not the same as littlies but I really enjoy my daughters, in their 30s, opening their gifts.

Applepoop · 30/12/2024 18:41

I’m thrilled it’s done with. Unnecessary work, unnecessary expense, hard to get everyday admin done as everything’s shut. Pressure on people to have an Instagram worthy family Christmas.

2chocolateoranges · 30/12/2024 18:42

I’m sad that Christmas Day is over with (our eldest child was extremely unwell and Christmas Day just passed us by and we had to cancel our guests who had to find alternative places for Christmas dinner. No excitement of Christmas morning , no family games etc.

oh well there is always new year,

MagicalMystical · 30/12/2024 18:43

I usually love Christmas but my dad died a few months ago so it was hard this year. Just felt I was going through the motions.

Purplebunnie · 30/12/2024 18:45

Have been unwell (some sort of sicky bug, just feel under the weather all the time) and I don't feel I've enjoyed Christmas as much as I should. I've seen the idea of a winter tree on FB so I'm going to put one up and try and enjoy that to make up for it.

Moonwalkies · 30/12/2024 18:45

I used to love Christmas but if it wasn't for DS I wouldn't bother anymore! It starts too early now imo, sick of seeing stuff in the shops from September. Feels like the same crap every year as well, every other year would be better.

UnimaginableWindBird · 30/12/2024 18:48

No, because there is still plenty of Christmas left - it's only just begun, really. And I plan to spend the next week enjoying it to the max by eating lots of cheese, drinking champagne to welcome the new year, starting a new diary, moving the wise men every day, hiding a bean in a cake to see who will be king for a day and having a night out drinking cocktails with my women friends.

And if I really want to hang on, I'll stay a little bit festive until Candlemas when spring will be safely on its way.

4pmfireworks · 30/12/2024 18:48

I love Christmas. I've had a lovely time, and now I'm happy to pack it all away again until next year. It wouldn't be special if it dragged on.

MrsPatrickDempsey · 30/12/2024 18:53

OP my kids are grown up now - still living at home but not for much longer. I have never given up the Father Christmas thing! We now have a bit of a laugh about it and a nudge wink but they still put a stocking out. It doesn't have to stop. I love seeing them open their stockings.

StormingNorman · 30/12/2024 18:53

It’s not over for me yet. I went for a walk around a festive NT property today, now I’m crashed on the sofa with mulled wine while my ham cooks. We are doing ham and cheeseboard for dinner. Then a board game.

HaddyAbrams · 30/12/2024 18:59

Thewrongdoor · 30/12/2024 18:36

No, it’s still Christmas! We aren’t even half way through.

Exactly.

Twinkletwinklelil · 30/12/2024 19:02

I am with you but mainly because I really don’t like January and February - cold, gloomy, and what feel like longgg months.

Passmetheaero · 30/12/2024 19:10

Applepoop · 30/12/2024 18:41

I’m thrilled it’s done with. Unnecessary work, unnecessary expense, hard to get everyday admin done as everything’s shut. Pressure on people to have an Instagram worthy family Christmas.

This!!! I’m delighted it’s over. Can’t wait for the better weather. And booked my summer holiday today so I’m buzzing!

HauntedPencil · 30/12/2024 19:11

I love September to December, but I love this time most of all with time to be lazy and relax. I know what you mean though it seems to be absolutely shooting past now..
