Tell me how you layer a trifle?!
I would do sponge fingers , soaked in sherry, then jelly, then fruit, custard and cream. Any opposition to that?! 😂

I think jelly goes on the bottom

The jelly is poured over the sponge fingers and fruit. Then custard, then cream, then hundreds and thousands.

Like this , and no sherry or any alcohol , it’s unnecessary and spoils it .

My mum always uses Swiss roll. A good amount of it. The jelly goes over this and soaks into the cake and makes this awesome jelly cake loveliness, no sherry, no fruit, custard, whipped cream and a crumbled up flake on top. It is absolutely epic and i can't wait to have a bit at new year.

This way, jelly on top of fruit.

I do jelly first, then sponge fingers with liquid made from the fruit and jam and the fruit, then custard then cream and flaked almonds/hundreds and thousands
