Will the supermarkets start discounting food before closing today or will they wait for Boxing day?

Went to aldi yesterday and they had 50%/75% off a lot of their bread and cold sandwiches section, but not much else (guess that'll change today).

DappledOliveGroves · 24/12/2024 12:28

Aldi had lots of Christmas food discounted today.

Just been to Aldi and they're discounting fresh stuff. Fruit and avocados very cheap. Got grapes full carton 49p. Earlier I was in M&S and they had loads of meat discounted. You could have filled your freezer easily (sadly mine is full). Ready meals too.

Toastandjam16 · 24/12/2024 12:32

Think the above is because both those places are closed until 27th. So they have more goods that will go off so are being discounted. For places that are reopening Boxing Day it may be different

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 24/12/2024 12:33

You are more likely to find reductions in stores closed both Christmas Day and Boxing Day as they have to clear through both 25th and 26th dated stock before close today.

Have just got back from LIDL and they had quite a few bits and pieces of chilled stuff (ham, cooked chicken pieces, pizza etc) with use by dates of 27th or 28th with 20 to 50% off

hopeishere · 24/12/2024 13:04

We waited once in M&S to see what was reduced. To be honest it wasn't that much. I think they try and have as long dates as possible so they don't have to do that anymore.

Got a cherry pie, vanilla cream, chips and a peas/beans broccoli thing all reduced.

Doing fish and chips tonight so perfect timing.

the only reductions in Tesco were on huge Turkeys costing around the £90- £100 mark reduced to £42
