Not looking forward to it

maybe because of the rubbish summer we had

Have summer 2024 heatwave in January and then, move xmas 2024 to 25th Febuary

I just came on to post something very similar. I really enjoy the lead up to Christmas with the decorations, activities and wrapping gifts but I find the day itself is always very intense. I hope that it will feel very magical for my two young dc and that's my aim. However, food shop costs an actual fortune, we host for one other relative only but they won't pay for any food or offer to help in any way at all with cooking or tidying up and will be expecting to be waited on hand and foot all day, all in close proximity for 12 hours without leaving the house.

Im prepared for it practically, however feel very overwhelmed by my responsibilities of travelling/ on top of a very intensive job right up to the wire Christmas evening night. I feel ill looking at my diary now of what I have to do this week. People are
Expecting a lot of me from all angles and I feel panicked by it all.

I’m not looking forward to it, never do really but normally get by with a very quiet Christmas.

This year I’m recovering from the virus from hell, I’m working Christmas Eve and after Boxing Day and I’ve got to get everyone 2 hours drive away Christmas morning for the day with family.

I don’t have the energy, I’ve been so poorly but we lost my dbro very suddenly this year and getting together is to honour him and support each other really. So not going would be awful.

It’s just with working as well, it’s all a bit intense and I’ll feel huge relief when it’s over.

To me, it's just another day. Single parent. this year is the first christmas day I won't see my son. I'll wake up alone with the dog!
I didn't start shopping until late and work colleagues seemed shocked I wasn't panicking. So much pressure for some people. I genuinely feel sorry they are burning out trying to create a perfect day.
