Where did I put that book?

DD has asked for one book for Christmas. One specific book (5th in a series). I know I ordered it. I'm sure it arrived, although weirdly that's the one book I don't have a confirmation of dispatch for. I've contacted them and they assured me it has been sent. She is getting other books but they will be downloaded to my e-reader, this is the only physical book I was planning to get her.

It's not with the rest of the gifts. It's not anywhere sensible. It's not anywhere nonsensical. So where have I put it?

Can you remember opening it? If not, then it's possible it hasn't arrived, or it's still in its packaging somewhere and you're looking for a book? We have a cupboard where I keep some of the packaging for reuse. If you have somewhere like that, it could be there. If you can remember opening it, do you know where you were when you opened it? Could you have popped it somewhere in that room ?

Not sure if it will help, but ....
whilst I keep most presents together, occasionally I will put something like a book somewhere else to keep it flat - my bedside table drawer or a chest of drawers in the spare room.

I once hunted high and low for a gift, which thankfully wasn't a main gift. DS opened it on Christmas morning - I'd already wrapped it and forgotten.

Shoved in a hall cupboard or drawer if it arrived when she was there?

In the car if it was delivered as you were leaving and you took it off the driver outside?

I think it has, but now I'm second guessing that as I didn't get a mail. They've confirmed it's been sent though. I'm 90% sure it arrived.

definitely not wrapped - that's when I started looking for it.
Definitely not in the car - don't have one.
I've checked all my drawers and shelves, including down the back. All the kitchen cupboards even though I've no reason to think it's there! Ditto utility room.
I do have a box of packaging, will check that later although I did throw. Load of cardboard recently... if I had to say, I'd say it was in a white envelope. Sometimes books from that come in a brown cardboard so I've been looking for both appearances.

You just reminded me I have something stashed in the boot which the dogs have now jumped in multiple times soaked in bog water. I almost daren't going and check for it.
