Things keep popping into my mind "ooo gotta do X" and I need to write a proper list, but this is what I've remember so far...

Wrap DD's presents.
Get cheese.
Steam mop hard floors (have been using the Flash speed mop for a couple of weeks feels like they need a proper go).
Find the FC stocking paper (red tissue).
Clean guest bathroom (including annoying mildew corner).

What have you got left?

I need to finish tidying/cleaning- done most but some bits left to do.

Wrap the presents 🎁

Pick up meat order from the butcher tomorrow and then call somewhere for some bin bags as I forgot them and any last minute bits but there won't be much at all.

Finish sorting the spare room ready for my parents on boxing day.

Otherwise, pretty much done! Unless I have forgotten loads of things!

DH is working this evening and part of tomorrow but then we are off which will be lovely.

Nip to Lidl for last bits today.

Tomorrow

  • iron napkins and table runner
  • wrap last few gifts while the girls lie in
  • make gingerbread house with the girls
  • see my dad
  • festive drinks at a friend's house
  • defrost chipolatas and bacon for pib
  • maybe make cauli cheese

Xmas eve

  • walk to town for fresh veg from market
  • collect any last bits we see that we fancy, wrap any last presents
  • cuppa somewhere & watch the world go by
  • come home & slowly prep Christmas dinner with the girls with Christmas songs & a glass or two of wine

In between, keep on top of normal stuff!

OnlyHereForTheChristmasBoard · 22/12/2024 12:00

Clean bathroom
Clean oven
Vacuum and dust house
Buy some thyme and more butter (unable to add these to online shopping order)
Xmas Eve: prep veg, dauphinois potatoes, make yule log.

hiredandsqueak · 22/12/2024 12:10

I've got the upstairs to dust and vacuum and the hard floors to mop downstairs, my job for after lunch. Shopping and wrapping done, plan to stuff the stockings tomorrow.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 22/12/2024 12:13

Housework. Wrap all presents. We will be spending 24th-27th being hosted by family, so no big food shop or cooking needed until after Christmas. We are hosting other family from 30th to New Year's Day, so need to plan for that before we go away and shop when we get back.

Natsku · 22/12/2024 12:26

Get the last of the food, which I'll do after work tomorrow.
Wrap all the presents
Decorate the tree! We were going to decorate the tree today but OH checked it and he says the tree is so dry the needles will all fall off before Christmas so he's going to try and get another tree tomorrow
Last vacuum and mop of the main floor of the house

Buy presents 😶

Littleme2023 · 22/12/2024 13:17

Christmas deep clean is happening today, I’m just taking a little break after hoovering the stairs.
Last food shop in Tesco tomorrow. It will be hell on earth in there( I’m dreading it, will probably also wander down the toy isle and end up buying the kids something extra because I just can’t help myself.
I had a few presents delivered a bit late, so I need to wrap those this evening. Along with the extra purchases.
I will tint my eyebrows/lashes and then dye my hair this evening, probably do my nails and toes too. Might throw a face mask on as well. Will watch Love Actually while doing this.
Will do some food prep and baking on Christmas Eve with the kids to make the day a bit easier.

Consume a large amount of cheese, chocolate, baileys and red wine between now and the big day 🥰

WeMeetInFairIthilien · 22/12/2024 13:37

Defrost the beef
Roast the beef
Collect the other meat from the butchers
Do the final veg/bread shop
Royal ice the cake
Wrap 2 presents from the Big Man
Make cranberry and apple sauce
Quick wipe round and hoover
Make the PiB, both meat and vegetarian
Do the washing from the weekend away.

Yorkshire puddings with Christmas dinner??? 🤨 Never heard of or seen that done before. I mean I love Yorkshire’s but Christmas dinner doesn’t traditionally include them?

We always have them

Just got to pop into town to collect one last present.
Maybe another last minute wipe of lounge room surfaces and bathrooms before family arrive tomorrow.
Tree and decorations done a week ago.
Presents all wrapped.
Fridge full of food.
Sideboard groaning with Christmas treats (except Turkish delight - anyone else struggling to find it this year??? )
Turkey and trimmings delivery coming Monday.
Dh has hoovered floors.
Never been so ahead of it all so early so now I'm wondering what's going to go wrong!
Oh and I missed last posting date for Aus so will be face timing instead.

My husband is munching through Aldi Turkish delight- had some in ours today as well

I’m sat here scrolling on Mumsnet procrastinating whether I have the motivation to start wrapping my grandchildren’s Christmas presents - 27 to do. I’ve not put the Christmas tree or decorations up this year - everything’s in the loft and neither my husband or I can get up there now. Both son-in-laws would have gone up if I’d asked but I kept putting off asking and now it’s definitely too late as I take everything down within a couple of days after Boxing Day. I finally updated my Waitrose delivery for tomorrow that I booked weeks ago, and realised I’d added a turkey breast joint that I can no longer delete from my order (we’re having a nice joint of beef instead that my husband got from the local butcher last Monday) so that’ll have to be handed back to the driver as not required (I did the same last year so really should know better!)
Can you tell that my heart really isn’t in Christmas mode this year?!

I’ve made the decision this year after 70 yr old husband went in the attic, that Christmas stuff will from now on be living in the cupboard under the stairs!
After days spent clearing the attic following the death of relative, I’ve made it my aim to gradually bring everything down from ours over the next year and rehome it - either elsewhere in our small house or the charity shop! Possibly will just store suitcases up there.

Spaceid · 22/12/2024 19:24

Have some fun! That’s what I plan to do! Going to pop to town tomorrow with the little one, pick up something nice to eat from Harrods food hall for Christmas Eve (something that just needs reheating or tapas to plate up), enjoy the atmosphere and the lights, have a slap up lunch and treat ourselves to a cab home!

Sortalike · 22/12/2024 19:36

I need to:
Wrap DD's Santa Present,
Buy DH and bottle of Grand Marnier, socks and pants
Money in a couple of cards
Pick up another paper tablecloth
Hoover, dust and quick clean throughout (won't take long - just a freshen up
Replace batteries in fairy lights and recharge them
Buy milk and Lard (of all things....)

Just a couple of hours of worth of stuff to do, so I'm aiming to be completely done by 2.00 pm tomorrow.

merryandbrightdelight · 22/12/2024 19:37

Food shop for more picky bits tomorrow - have my family over Christmas Eve for a buffet but going to PILs for Christmas lunch which will be lovely AND means no washing up for us! I went in Tesco today and it was manic, doing Asda tomorrow night. I only need cheeses and breads and bits as already have some in.

Hoover through and mop floors.

Marizipan two Christmas cakes which will get done tomorrow evening.

Then... eat cheese and not move for a few hours!

troppibambini6 · 22/12/2024 19:47

A few last minute presents to wrap
Find the serving bowls
Sort the table clothes
Clean our bedroom and bathroom
Last bit of ironing
Last bits of food shop tomorrow morning

At a football tournament tomorrow and out on Xmas eve day so need to crack on tonight and tomorrow morning.
