Personally any left overs or anything simple for the host is good by me as I'm at friends and her DH will be cooking Christmas Dinner (his choice!) & other than us helping peel veg, he prefers us to leave him alone with his bottle of red wine & not get underfoot!
they're much more of a cooked pre prepared boxes of nibbles type of family with cheese, coleslaw etc, rather than a make anything themselves. I love it..
but if someone wanted to actually cook/make things for 'proper' guests coming for Boxing Day...
(I'm vegetarian)
mushroom vol au vents
anything with Brie & Cranberry
(some fantastic ideas on Facebook reels)
Some beautiful (but simple) wreaths/Christmas trees!! With pastry or homous with stuff on top, looking like a wreath for having with bread or crackers.
very small potatoes cooked then smashed with toppings and baked. To make potato bites (much nicer than I make it sound).
pickled silver skin onions.
indian bites - samosas, onion bhaji, etc
spring rolls
cheese & crackers
(I'm low carb all year, except Christmas, then I'm like the Carb Monster!!)
afterwards
brandy snaps
other individual things like that.
Christmas cake
large hot cuppa to help it all down 😂😂
or did you want suggestions for a proper meal??
