I'm doing a nut roast. A very traditional one. Not very exciting but I like it and prefer it personally to shop bought stuff. I make a veggie gravy following a recipe on BBC food.

I have a lovely recipe for a veggie wellington here. It’s vegan so don’t know if that’s off-putting to you, but it’s genuinely delicious. Very easy and pretty cheap to make, no fake meat crap or anything like that- just mushrooms, chickpeas, various veggies etc. very delicious and hearty. The only couple of ‘weird’ ingredients flaxseed and vegan wostershire sauce- if you can’t find any of either that’s not a problem. I forgot to put both in last time and honestly didn’t make a difference.

Vegan Wellington

Impress your guests with this gorgeous Vegan Wellington! The filling is meaty, satisfying and ever-so-tasty! It's surprisingly easy to make too!

Both OH and I veggie and have rarely had a "main" with our Christmas lunch (or Sunday lunch for that matter).
We make an extra large S&O stuffing (made with a jar of apple sauce), high baked so it is crispy. It is to die for, we never get bored.😁

Aubergine and goats cheese dish from the Mary Beery Christmas book.

I have been veggie since I was a child. In 50 years I have never had anything other than lots of vegetables, stuffing, bread sauce and veggie gravy. There is no room on my plate after everything else. Roast potatoes, parsnips, sprouts, peas, carrots, cabbage, runner beans, stuffing, bread sauce, horseradish and gravy. Gosh I’m getting hungry thinking about it.

I wouldn't want just vegetables however nice they are but I guess Yorkshire pud provides something different. I make a Wellington usually.

I usually just have all the trimmings and veggie gravy (nut roast is rank), but this year I treated myself to an M&S Plant Kitchen not-turkey and all the (vegan) trimmings (pigs in blankets, stuffing balls, gravy etc) for one. Saw it in the shop yesterday. Woo. It’ll probably remind me not to be so fancy and I’ll revert to the norm next year.

Ooh that looks nice but I don't like mushrooms, I might try it with chestnuts instead if I can get them

My favorite is a parsnip and cashew nut roast - I think it’s Delia.
I really don’t like fake meat except some sausages so wouldn’t want that.
been veggie for 38 years.
