Stocking gifts. Wrapped or not?

We are a childfree house. We have teens coming for Xmas and I'm making them a stocking. Chocs, notebooks, key rings, lip balms, tester sized toiletries etc. I can't remember if stocking gifts are wrapped or not?
Help!

Yes, always wrapped.

GetDressedYouMerryGentlemen · 19/12/2024 09:33

I use the wee little scrappy off cuts of paper or tissue paper that has come as packaging to wrap the notebook, toiletries type things. Lip balms chocolate coins etc go in unwrapped.

TotallyTwisted · 19/12/2024 09:33

Not wrapped. Who has the time?!

popandchoc · 19/12/2024 09:34

Some wrapped and some not. I don't wrap the chocolate things and some awkward bits.

LimeYellow · 19/12/2024 09:34

No wrapping here. Too much faff!

TeenLifeMum · 19/12/2024 09:34

Not wrapped just pulled out of a sack one at a time. Lots of little bits - stationery, makeup etc

EdithStourton · 19/12/2024 09:35

Wrapped, apart from things like chocolate coins.
Unwrapping is half the fun.

Hedgerow2 · 19/12/2024 09:35

A few of the bigger/higher value items wrapped loosely in tissue paper; the rest unwrapped.

This, although I do wrap the coins too! Different wrapping paper to mine of course, as Santa brings our stockings.

atomicnotsoblonde · 19/12/2024 09:37

Wrapped! Even the chics!

Xag · 19/12/2024 09:39

Wrapped for young DC (in new/different paper)

One the youngest of the family had tumbled to Father Christmas, the wrapping all mysteriously disappeared

NamelessNinja · 19/12/2024 09:40

Not wrapped here, wrapping all the main presents is a big enough job!

getahhtmapub · 19/12/2024 09:41

Cool. Consensus seems to be wrap the bigger ticket stuff. Other things to just pull out I like the idea of half and half!

Food items like satsuma, choc coins, choc Santa unwrapped. Other items wrapped.

Fontainebleau007 · 19/12/2024 09:43

My mum used to wrap all my stocking gifts, however, I never have with my children. I literally cannot be bothered after wrapping everyone's presents 😂

MuddlingThroughLife · 19/12/2024 10:12

If its not wrapped it's not a present!

WeAllHaveWings · 19/12/2024 10:18

Always wrapped here. ds(20) has always thought pulling out wrapped presents, guessing/suspense of what it is, unwrapping his stocking (upstairs in our bed until late teens, now usually after midnight on Christmas eve as he works Christmas day the last 2 years) is still the best part of Christmas!

Also used to give us an extra 30m or so in bed Christmas morning to wake up as he unwrapped and showed us what he got!

My wrapping of stocking presents is a bit shoddy/done quickly, but they are always wrapped. Otherwise it is just sock full of random things rather than "presents".

We've done both over the years. Mine were never wrapped as a child but I read people on here wrapping them so gave it a go. I didn't think it really added anything to the experience to be honest. In this house stocking gifts are small and the wrapping seemed like a pain. One thing I plan to change for next year though is our stockings. Ours are store bought and not stretchy at all. It makes them quite difficult to stuff and I have wonderful memories of a bulging stockings when I was little, you could clearly make out the chocolate orange in the toes! They were actually just my Dad's old fishing socks but I can still clearly picture them. So I'm going to look for something knitted in the new year to hopefully achieve the same effect.
So I guess my conclusion is that the stocking is the wrapping.

No wrapping here.

susiedaisy1912 · 19/12/2024 10:32

Wrapped

FatAlec · 19/12/2024 10:34

Wrapped. I have the time because my DH does all the wrapping Grin It makes the stocking extra crinkly when it's all wrapped.

K0OLA1D · 19/12/2024 10:35

Yes wrapped.

We only really do stockings for a bit more of a line in when they open them.🤣

SittingontheSidelines · 19/12/2024 10:35

@CometCupidDonnerBlitzen We use rugby socks. An empty one to hang, the other one stuffed and ready to swap once child is asleep. I agree, so much more magical than the shop ones, we used my dad's old army socks when we were kids.

I'm a wrapper too. Tissue paper then a Christmas sticker label to hold the wrapping together. Nice and easy. I also have a supply of different coloured bags (from Amazon, striped sweet bags and some Christmas designs). These make wrapping really easy. Again I stick down with a label. If you have lots of children put the name on the label in case things get muddled up.

NordicwithTeen · 19/12/2024 10:37

Surprised so many don't wrap- I massively over thought this when dd was tiny and had special FC paper I used to hide so she wouldn't twig...

SprigatitoYouAndIKnow · 19/12/2024 10:37

Not wrapped. Who has time for all that extra fiddly buggering about? The stocking is the wrapper
