I've already bought everything that has a longer use by date than a week. The fresh stuff is being delivered on Monday morning which gives me a couple of days to sort anything that is missing from the order. We are hosting Christmas Day and Boxing Day with all the family so needed to get ahead or would be swamped by the last order.

chattyness · 19/12/2024 21:01

Ours is being delivered tomorrow all being well

evtheria · 19/12/2024 21:06

•Tesco delivery on Monday (which I haven't finalised)
•Little trip to shops after to pick up missing things or certain items

worriedgal · 19/12/2024 21:26

Ham being delivered on 22nd.
Ocado ordered for 23 rd so we can source whatever Ocado lets us down on !

BebbanburgIsMine · 19/12/2024 21:41

Monday,

There's only DD, me and our cat and we don't have extravagant Christmases. Just a couple of chicken breast fillets, tatties, carrots, peas, onions, oatmeal for skirlie, and that's it.

We already have sticky toffee pudding in the cupboard, so just to get some sort of juice and that's it.

Simple and easy!

MajorCarolDanvers · 19/12/2024 21:43

My online shop is being delivered on the 23rd

momager1 · 19/12/2024 21:50

going at 8 am christmas eve, (christmas eve is the day here that everyone celebrates) I already have all the meat and everything I need to make every dish I have planned other than fresh bread, and fresh veg for a couple different salads, and soft drinks and wine and beer. Miss the massive roast turkey, but here...a turkey is over 100 usd. And..it is about 30 degrees..do not want the oven on for that amount of time... ribs, chicken skewers, sausages on the bbq.. and several salads with fresh breads.

Me too! First time in 10 years! I’m a bit nervous!

Same here I am pretty laid back usually, but getting more stressed about it now. Some items are essential!

Christmas Eve

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 19/12/2024 22:01

We have hired a country cottage in the middle of nowhere from tomorrow so soon as we arrive, luggage dropped and off we go to the local Sainsbury's 😏.

BiddyPop · 20/12/2024 20:44

I went today at lunchtime to one of the large ones on the metro to get most of the basics - fruit and veg, stores items, some cheese, Prosecco etc. And frozen mini breakfast pastries to bake.

I still have to get a bird (probably a large chicken), sparkling water, strawberries (for teen dd), breakfast juice, white wine, and some crisps to nibble. And chicken breast for the early part of the week (teen dd). I will try and get some kind of seafood platter for DH and I to enjoy before dd arrives. I plan to go to the other big supermarket on the metro early on Sunday, I think. (Unless I get a burst of energy tomorrow).

I will probably end up there again on Monday or Tuesday though, as dd will need something and I have no clear idea what they will want to eat for the couple of nights beforehand. But I should be able to do that in the small local shop.

But some days, I miss having a car and being able to just load it high, and even do a second run before going home if needed.

Ratfinkstinkypink · 20/12/2024 20:53

Did it today while my little one was at school he can't sit in a supermarket trolley, he can't sit much less walk so today was my last chance really.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 22/12/2024 18:53

Have successfully managed to sort everything but bread and pork pie which will do on xmas eve. Avoided M&s on mon/tues, went on Friday and got everything.

Morrisons coming tomorrow after work

No doubt I’ll be back out tomorrow night or Tuesday getting the stuff they don’t have

BarbaraHoward · 22/12/2024 19:01

We have most of the non perishables and things with longer dates like the ham.

The butchers opens at 6am tomorrow so DH will get up then and go over to pick up the turkey. Then he'll drop the DC at their childcare and head to the supermarket at about 8:30 (only one car).

We always order the turkey but other than that we get everything in the supermarket and have never had a problem.

Twinkletwinklelil · 22/12/2024 19:12

Did a bit Saturday late afternoon and the rest Sunday AM.
one last run out on Xmas Eve for some bread!

Mashroom · 22/12/2024 19:15

Going to brave it now .. don’t live in uk and supermarket opens late

Unrulyrabbit · 23/12/2024 08:47

Did a tesco shop this morning. Arrived there just after 6am and some people clearly ahead of us as already leaving. Was already busy, but possibly felt more so because lots of staff with big pallets re stocking while people shopping. Got what we wanted and home again by 8.

HelenWheels · 23/12/2024 08:48

every day!
well i did saturday, sunday
two more days of shopping left

CordeliaNaismithVorkosigan · 23/12/2024 08:56

Did most of mine this morning, will have to pop out again tomorrow first thing as not everything was in stock today.

WickedlyCharmed · 23/12/2024 16:20

I did my Tesco shop this morning at 10am, came home and unloaded the car then went to M&S after lunch.

Both trips were fine, I got a parking space no problem, got everything I needed and more, the shelves were absolutely full to bursting, loads of turkeys, turkey crowns, lamb, gammon, etc, and the shops weren’t that busy at all.

TimeAndTideAndButteredEggsWaitForNoMan · 23/12/2024 19:26

My order from Morrisons arrived this morning (I was one of the lucky ones!) with only one substitution, which was just one flavour rather than another of the item I ordered. Feeling lucky, given the issues later in the day and that some people won’t get their Morrisons delivery at all.
