What to get my brother and his wife?

Please help me with present ideas, they are my last people to buy for. I just want a token gift, nothing too much.

Can't do gift vouchers as they are into high end stuff, which is way out of my price range.

Can't give any food or drink because they are always on some kind of diet and SiL has a long list of foods she can't eat because they exacerbate her IBS.

They don't have kids but have cats who they absolutely love - maybe something linked to that?

I thought about some small thing for their home or a nice Christmas decoration, but we have very different tastes, so I might get that wrong!

Any suggestions? They are the worst people to buy for 😫.

Luxury Candles | Scented & Tealight | The White Company UK

Pots of Dreams Ceramic Money Pot Saving Coins Personalised Money Pot - Etsy UK (To personalise it you need to leave a note at checkout, but you could do both of their initials)

I like getting couples vouchers for meals, even a breakfast at a nice local restaurant?

Hillrunning · 18/12/2024 11:10

I'd get vouches for somewhere local to them. A cafe, bookshop, bakery etc.

Or a tree ornament. You must be able to have a good stab at their taste.

Thanks. I think I might go a nice Christmas decoration or something for their tree. I'm not sure whether they will get me anything or not, but they're definitely going to get my dcs some sweets or something, so I wanted to get them something!

You could get a generic voucher ie. John Lewis, selfridges, Amazon, they can then put towards something high end if they wish.

But I also like the suggestion of a meal voucher for date night, I think you can get some for a range of restaurants not just one. Or there is a Deliveroo gift card which I've always found popular!

I wouldn't do candles or homeware, so hard to get right and people can be picky about scents.

I'm definitely using the deliveroo gift card idea for other tricky to buy for people! Great idea.

You're probably right about the homeware. I haven't been to their house in years so I've no idea what their style is.

TBH in this situation, I would buy them something from a Childs pocket money perspective , they are after all buying just for their nieces/nephews so go cheap as chips

Hotel Chocolat for example do some lovely wee gifts for under a tenner and even me who is always on a diet would just love a small box of their mint batons for an after dinner treat

I was thinking more child's pocket money than all out present. Last time they came for Christmas I got them a present each and had an awkward apology from them as they hadn't realised we were doing presents at all! I'm picking up some last bits of shopping tomorrow so I will have a look in hotel chocolat
