Inspired by the “what have you got the kids” thread as I got some good ideas from there…
what on earth have you got your partners/husbands/significant others??

my husband is normally quite easy to buy for, but this year I’m struggling!!!

what have you got yours?

DH is impossible to buy for because if he wants something he just buys it for himself, there and then.

But this year I think I've played a blinder. He's a really poor sleeper so I've bought him a Snooze Band + an amazing pillow, exactly the same as the one he had at our AirBnB recently which he loved (it's from the States and cost me a fortune in import taxes, but hopefully worth it). Also a couple of pairs of flannel PJ bottoms from Fatface and a tin of his favourite shortbread.

Can I pop round on Christmas Day
and pretend to be your husband and open those? What excellent gifts!

Hedgesgalore · 18/12/2024 13:48

Apple watch.

He bought me one for a recent birthday, he ordered one for himself as well so I nabbed it to give him for christmas. Got him a nice fleece gilet too.

He has a birthday very close to christmas so finding anything for him is doubly hard. For his birthday he is having a wash bag (he travels a lot), fancy marmalades from Highgrove, two flat caps from Highgrove, he likes his Barbour one so I went a bit mad with caps 😂

We are also a couple who dont really go big for presents , when we want something we just go buy it usually and at our age, big wants are dream wants - never going to happen :)

So hes getting
New beanie
A card full of Mach Fusion Blades ( he does prefer them but keeps buying cheap blades due to cost )
A HUGE bar of chocolate
A case of 10 NitroGuinness - again he loves them, but sticks to ordinary cans due to cost ( blades and Guinness I got at very very very good prices )

Mini projector and tickets to a show which I know will be a big hit.

Nolegusta · 18/12/2024 14:31

Nothing. Money better spent on other things, we're both happy with that arrangement.

Derbee · 18/12/2024 14:32

Some nice Pringles socks
An endoscope from Screwfix

Took me a few minutes to compute "an endoscope ftom Screwfix" 😆

He is incredibly hard to buy for cos he usually just buys things he wants or he wants something out of budget. But I feel I’ve done well this year and got him some trainers, cufflinks because he realised he’s lost his 20 mins before he needed them for a fancy event, and some wine that’s made by a festival we’re going to next year. We don’t really do big gifts and I know he thinks I’m hard to buy for cos I never really want anything in particular either!

AliasGrape · 18/12/2024 15:02

A watch - well to be fair he bought it himself and then said 'do you just want to give me this for Christmas' - so technically I've just transferred him the £50 (obviously it's not a top make, but was the one he wanted as an everyday thing as he doesn't like wearing his good one for work)

I've also got him a few smaller bits so he can open a few surprises - some American sweets he likes, couple of different beers, heated insoles for his football boots, a 'magnetic chess' game (nothing to do with actual chess), a set of the pens he likes - nothing wildly exciting!

sixtiesbaby88 · 18/12/2024 15:06

DH has the same present every year - a book of photos taken over the past year. He likes it as he never actually takes photos himself 🙄
For a couple of extra bits he has some Pocket coffee espresso chocs, a trapper hat, one of those led headband lights and a toothbrush squeezer

Manypaws · 18/12/2024 15:19

A jacket, couple of jumpers, t shirts and tickets for Simple Minds

Oh and some daft stocking fillers

But of course x

lingalingalong · 18/12/2024 18:24

I asked mine what he wants when I sent him the link to what I want. He said a new 'Which?' recommended mop to replace the old one😆(bless him!).

So I also got him a Garmin running tracker thing which will be a surprise on Christmas day!

Isthisexpected · 18/12/2024 20:38

What is a toothbrush squeezer?

BibbityBobbityToo · 18/12/2024 20:43

2 tops (hope they fit, look a bit big to me 🙄)
1 bottle of rum
2 PS4 games

Disappointed this year but after 20 years of being told he doesn't need anything I'm all out of ideas.

PomandersandRedRibbon · 18/12/2024 22:13

Loving all the lego 😂🎄

Lego r2d2.
Luminous running socks.

MaybeItsTimeForMeNow · 18/12/2024 22:22

Beer cap collector (DH likes to try different ales)
Nice hooded dressing gown
Boot buddy
Shortbread (loads)
Nail gun (for netting the allotment)
Slippers
Posh snacks from Italian deli (olives, olive spread stuff, little biscuits)
Pollination wand
Electric candle lighter
Olive spoon
Strawberry huller
Whisky miniatures

We are so boring 😂 and have an allotment so despite a probably very dull list to most, I think he will be happy. And it's his birthday beginning of Jan 😭

I was trying to picture Pringles socks but you didn’t mean the snacks….😆

My DH is getting his wish list which he finally announced last week - a book, new PJs, aftershave - and the stuff I had already bought - a ridiculous Parkrun tourist hat (involving much subterfuge and messaging because they are password protected) a new jumper, another book and a silly game to play.

I'm guessing it should say toothpaste squeezer?

AnotherEmma · 20/12/2024 01:35

Don't know what to do about DH... he is difficult to buy for, we've been together 17 years and I've given him so many thoughtful gifts in that time, I've completely run out of steam. He buys himself things ALL THE TIME and recently bought himself not one but two Lego sets. He is picky. He has most of the things he wants/needs.

I suggested not buying each other presents this year but instead deciding on a joint gift together, tickets for a show or something, or maybe a projector for our bedroom so we can watch stuff in bed... he hasn't said a clear no to these suggestions but instead is just "meh" about them and is clearly hurt that I'm not going to shower him with presents.

It's so much work thinking of and buying presents for the kids and everyone else (and I have really limited the number of people I buy for) I just wish he would give me the gift of releasing me from the extra work of getting him presents too.

His birthday is in January FFS, it's not as if he has long to wait before he does get loads of presents.

Sorry that ended up being one long moan when I really just read this thread to get ideas 😬😳

Pumpkittenspice · 20/12/2024 09:55

My DP’s main gifts are tickets to see Alanis Morrisette and tea cups and saucers. (The tea cups and saucers were requested)

In her stocking, I’ve got her:

A LEGO camera
A loaf baking tray (she wants to get into baking)
A shower gel
New body puff

Want to get her some chocolate too 😊
