Hello
Truly struggling with gifts for my 10 year old son….He’s not in to toys but is into sports-tennis & soccer in particular. We’ve got him a few bits but would love
to surprise him with a trip to London ( we’re in Ireland )
He’s visited London with us in the past ,and has seen all the usual museums .
Considering a trip in Jan to London Wimbledon tennis museum -has anyone been ?Is it interesting ?
Is there a fun multi-sport /indoor tennis or sports activity centre to combine with?
Would be grateful for any “sports experience” ideas in London .

could you tell him youre going and let him choose the activity?

Wembley stadium tour or any of the London football clubs.

Looking at a tennis 'museum' in winter sounds pretty dull tbh. If it's a trip to a city, why not ask him where he'd like to go? London is so pricey it might be more economical and fun to go to another European city? It should be his choice if it's going to be a trip. He might rather have something more locally based?

It’s not quite a sport but the Thames Rib experience came to mind https://thamesribexperience.com

Wimbledon sounds a good idea but also football stadium e.g. Wembley, Arsenal etc. do tours.

There is also Stratford where you can visit the Olympic VeloPark, swimming centre and AcelorMital Orbiter (reopens in Feb). The shopping Centre has a range of restaurants.

Thanks all..some good ideas !
He has recently asked to return to London and said it’s his favourite city( he’s been on lots of city breaks in the past few years )so I think he’d be happy with some one on one time and a trip there .
Wembley sounds like a plan ,Thames Rib also !
We’ll look into the other suggestions and thanks again 😊

Look on virgin experience days as there are quite a lot of offers with w
20%off

Do research though as sone are more expensive than buying direct from venue whereas others with 20% offer are a lot cheaper

Climb 02 , boat /rib thing down Thames

Wimbledon is a long way out of the centre to go to just to visit the museum.

Look to see if the Olympic swimming pool has its inflatables session it is epic. You climb up the diving boards to go down the slides. Huge inflatable obstacle course, everyone has to wear buoyancy aids.

If he has had a Percy Jackson phase I'd book Hades Town, it's a lovely story but it's all Greek mythology Hades / Persephone with a New Orleans Jazz twist or Matilda which is outstanding.

There is a brilliant interactive football thing at the 02 called Toca Social, kids can only go in during the day though and you have to book. It’s right near the cable cars so another fun thing to do.
