For various long reasons I need to find a new gift for my niece and kind of need to buy it today due to going away. But I'm really stuck for ideas. She's (quite a young) 9, likes dolls, teddies, writing stories, gymnastics, the odd board game.

Can anyone help with ideas? What have you got your kids that has been a success? Budget up to about £40.

If she likes monopoly there are versions with different characters like squishmallows (?), a really nice pen and notebook for her to write in if she handwrites?

Bitzee
Lite Brite
Vtech secret safe diary
Aquabeads

My DD is 8 tomorrow and loves squishmallows. We’ve also got her a jelly cat and a scrapbook making set. The idea of a themed monopoly is good. Craft sets are always a winner too.

Pusheen plush
Animal onesie
Warmies

Squishmallows or slime. Smthys do cloud and butter slimes that are more clay like that both of mine love. Nice note book and pens. Crystal growing kit.

All these are good. I'll add a Hama beads set. For £40 you will get a great one including a storage case and several pegboards. All kids like Hamas!

Does she have any Our Generation/Designerfriend dolls? You can get quite nice ones for £40, including gymnastics themed ones.

Squishmallows never fail. You can get a massive one for £40.
