Hi all,
Hopefully you all good and having a good festive season!
I need advise for the best yule log I can buy from a supermarket.
Which one is the best? We have Waitrose, Tesco, M&S, Morrisons, Aldi and Lidle locally.

Many thanks

Not a supermarket, but if there's a Paul near you they do lovely Yule Logs and you can usually choose between a classic chocolate and a seasonal fruits one.

We always get M&S, lovely thick icing if that is what you like

I like to try different mince pies!

Tesco, the fresh chilled one at £8.50.

I have to have this every year! We’ve (read I) have already half eaten one.

Had a nice Asda one at a the neighbours Christmas party. Still need to sample a few more.

Happiestwhen · 17/12/2024 15:56

I like the Tesco finest Belgian chocolate one. It has shrunk in size and gone up in price in the last few years though 🙈 I don't like Asda's own brand cakes, Tesco ones much nicer imo

Normallynumb · 17/12/2024 15:58

I like the Asda ' Exceptional' one
It's in a green box this year

Acunningruse · 17/12/2024 15:59

The Times did review of yule logs at the weekend, I don't have the paper any more, but from memory M&S came top, followed by Asda Extea Special (we had this last year and it was very rich but good).
Surprisingly Sainsburys came bottom, they said it was dry and sugary.

TepidBathofManagedDecline · 17/12/2024 16:00

Christmas Colin from M&S

Londonmummy66 · 17/12/2024 16:07

I also read the Sunday Times review - the top log wasn't the Colin one though it was an M&S one with cream in (so probably in the chilled section rather than cakes).

ChocHotolate · 17/12/2024 16:10

Sainsburys was very poor, dry and tasteless

CandiedPrincess · 17/12/2024 16:11

I got an Aldi one today and noticed it had a Good Housekeeping logo on it so just looked it up on Readly. (This one looks to be a fresh one though, not the one I got)

I got (and we've eaten...) an Asda exceptional one and it was dry .

Trcnchi · 19/12/2024 20:46

Thank you everybody! I think I am going to try Tesco and M&S ones.
