Gift for fussy MIL?!

Just that..
My MIL is quite fussy and has 'refined taste' (her words.) We get on reasonably well so I'd like to buy her my own gift for Xmas - DH buys one for my mum too.

She has lots of money so there's nothing she needs and has quite expensive taste. She'd likely turn her nose up at the kind of thing I'd buy my own mum.

All I have to go off is that she loves M&S (it's all she talks about and she won't food shop anywhere else) I'm completely stumped for what to buy on quite a restricted budget! Help please!

Rescue donkey.

A tin of shortbread, or a box of chocs from M&S. Next!

M&S wine or liquor.

An M&S orchid.

M&S have lots of food gifts in the nice tins and the fancy Gin liquor bottles?

or maybe one of their hampers?

An extravagant M&S bouquet, or some of their beauty products - good soap or body lotion in her favorite scent. A homemade hamper with M&S tea, coffee, biscuits or cake, chocolates…all the things that are a bit special at Christmas.

A potted M&S plant is my go to for things like this. They don’t have faff about finding a vase, they last longer than a bouquet and they can reuse the pot if/ when it dies

Lots of lovely suggestions, thank you!

I’d laugh at her for thinking she has refined taste when her obsession is M&S 🤣.

What’s your budget OP?

WilfredsPies · 12/12/2024 14:23

What’s your budget? You could go M&S for a gift and I expect she’d love it.

Or Chanel nail polish in Ballerina, which is the palest of pinks if you put a couple of coats on, but almost clear with just one coat. Very elegant and minimalist. If you put it in a small gift box with tissue paper, it would make it look even better. You can’t go wrong with Chanel, even if it’s not M&S!

Oh I'd have fun with this one, I'd get her one small lovely gift and then make a donation on her behalf to a charity with the line 'you have such refined taste there is very little us mere mortals can afford to buy for you so we know you'd prefer others to benefit over christmas instead of common tat' 😋
