Instax Mini 12 or Mini Liplay?

My daughter wants one of these for Christmas. She's 10, no phone, not getting one for a couple of years. She wanted originally a Mini 12 in purple, mainly for how it looked. We suggested a Liplay instead as she can choose the photos before printing, and when she does get a phone she'll be able to print from it too. She's now very upset as she wants the one that looks cute but thinks she'll just end up with lots of wasted photos. Has anyone experience with a younger kid with the Mini 12? Will it just eat through the printer paper as a non digital camera? I'm having flashbacks of dropping in a roll of film to be developed and the disappointment of paying for lots of eyes closed/red eye/blurry photos.

You only get ten photos in each pack for the Mini 12, and they can get pricey if she goes crazy with it. Only just learnt about the Liplay, it’s certainly the more sensible option

i can’t really say the Minis get updated much either so perhaps look at an older one? I’m sure mines is an 8 and I only use it on special occasions

I remember getting a Polaroid as a kid, must have been about the same age. You had to buy flash bulbs and film and they were ridiculously expensive, you got ten shots. It was very rarely used. You'd be better off getting a digital camera and letting her print in boots. She would be able to take video then as well.

Thanks both. Good to know about the Minis not really updating too.
