I know I know that books are personal choice but I always get my eldest a couple of new books for Christmas and she looks forward to a read over Christmas so with that in mind and the fact that she reads a broad spectrum apart from biographies really, has anyone got any suggestions..,,
all ideas welcome
thank you

I've bought my 18yer old DD 'The Dalai Llama's Cat'. It's a great read.

BigFatLiar · 09/12/2024 20:14

So not necessarily books about or featuring Christmas? Simply a book for her Christmas.?

BigFatLiar · 09/12/2024 20:29

How old is the eldest?

snowmanshoes · 09/12/2024 20:34

Yes sorry doesn’t need to be Christmas themed just any recommendations please and she’s 18 soon to be 19 but reads a variety

How about Return to the Dallergut Dream Department Store?

BigFatLiar · 09/12/2024 20:42

Has she read any Georgette Heyer?
The Outlander books?
Any tv series she likes have associated books?
Pay for a kindle subscription for her? (If she doesn't have a kindle she can download the app to her phone)

Butter by Asako Yuzukiy is all over the place and my teenagers knew about it before I did which is saying something because I read a lot of translated fiction.

Really do agree, that book is everywhere and the OP's DD would probably enjoy it Wink

The House in the Cerulean Sea
Indemnity Only - Sara Paretsky (first in a great series, independent female detective and not gory)
Horse - Geraldine Brook

Do you think she'd like any non-fiction OP?

Has she read Bear Town by Fredrik Backman or The Snow Child. Both are good winter reads.

I often read a long book in January, one of my favourites has been David Copperfield.
