DS6 and DD4 have both got a scooter, yoto mini and cards, and a cardboard colour in house thing plus some new swimming stuff.

DS6 also has a football rebound goal, Beyblades and a furby

DD4 has a dolls pram, puppy surprise and …this list has made me realise I need to get one more thing!

They will also have some stockings (all of the above from Santa) and will get books from DH and me. They won’t get much if anything from wider family, but I think they’ve done pretty well.

im also toying with adopting an animal at the zoo for him and booking tickets to go visit in the spring… it’s £100 (inc zoo tickets) which I haven’t budgeted for, but it would just make his year and be something else to look forward to in 2025…if I can stretch to it I think I will.

I think that's everything, though I do sometimes forget as I pick the bits up through the year when I see something I think she'd like, or that's on a good offer.

Yes I agree, we have no extended family and never had gifts bought for DC.

It's all on DH & I, we do santa gifts and also gifts from us too. Gifts from us go under the tree in run up to Christmas otherwise there'd be nothing there and feel tree would look empty and bare.

We have tried to do 8-10 gifts from santa and the same amount from us each year. Ranging from big ticket items to a wrapped selection box.

It is a pressure but don't feel our DC should miss out because of unfortunate circumstances.

It seems a common assumption on mumsnet that everyone has grandparents or aunts/uncles who are eagerly waiting for gift ideas from kids lists or will use their own initiative to buy gifts for DC.

Not everyone is lucky that way.

Can I ask you where your mother bought it? My nephew would find it funny. Was it expensive?

@OnNaturesCourse you can find it on Argos. For last Christmas we bought remote control Gravedigger monster truck which is alot bigger but I really recommend it - it goes on sand, snow, water, does tricks and is still very much loved.
