Smartwatch for a 12 year old (that isn't really a smart watch?!)

Hi,
My son has a smartphone but no access to the internet. He's happy with this. He now, however, has seen a smartwatch for £45 on Amazon that has Alexa, can count steps etc.. Obviously I know this would then need access to the internet? Is there anyway round this. We have disabled the internet on his phone, so it's just for texting etc.. Any advice/recommendations? TIA

I actually saw some in Garmin recently specifically for kids! Not sure on their access etc, but might be worth a look

Something that is more of a fitness tracker than a smart watch. Maybe look at some of the entry level fitbits.

The kids Garmin is age 4+ and the kids fitbit is 6+ I think a 12 yo would find both of them far too young, both in function and in style.
