It's her birthday and Christmas in December she's my niece and I'm at a loss as she wants bubble skincare and Sol de janeeiro off Santy so any kind of toys are out the window . When did their tastes get so expensive ? Also I kind of find it sad that kids aren't really kids anymore she wants all this grownup stuff that costs a fortune instead of toys or games or any kind of artsy stuff that she used to love

Aww. Mine is 10 and this is the first time she has no idea what she wants. She's not into all the skin care stuff yet but toys are no interest anymore. Not sure if this would be too childish if your niece is in Secondary school but I plan on bringing some mischief that will amuse mine just as much as it would have done when she was younger by giving her a double sided coin I got off ebay. I will write on the parcel not to open it when her Dad is around and then she can spend the day tricking him into all sorts when she wins any bets with him! Not all 11yos are like that; my DD is 11 and would like Lego and squishmallows. You’re never too old for Lego!

She isn’t allowed tiktok/ social media though - in my DD’s year it seems to be girls looking at those who want the expensive skincare.
