Hi - I need to make a dessert for Xmas dinner that doesn't contain the following things that people won't eat-

Cream
Peel or raisins
Meringue
Nuts
Alcohol

🤦🏻‍♀️ any suggestions or links to recipes you'd recommend??

Many thanks!

ApolloandDaphne · 07/12/2024 09:39

Cheesecake

mumtotwo11 · 07/12/2024 09:41

lemon tart

Forgottenmyphone · 07/12/2024 09:45

Chocolate cheesecake https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/chocolatedigestivee_43476

Playdoughcaterpillar · 07/12/2024 09:46

I make Jamie Oliver panettone bread and butter pudding. It's delicious. You can make with plain panettone to avoid the fruit.

TinselToed · 07/12/2024 09:46

Sorry I should have said no cheesecake either- what is wrong with these people I am cooking for, I love a cheesecake!

Nigella’s caramelised oranges
Steamed ginger pud
Nigella’s Yule Log

mumtotwo11 · 07/12/2024 09:51

I have a fussy family so I get it!

Could you offer couple of options?

Sponge pudding? Chocolate torte? Chocolate log?

LikeABat · 07/12/2024 09:54

Chocolate brownies or other chocolate e.g. Yule log. Or a steamed syrup sponge pudding.

JingleB · 07/12/2024 09:54

Yule log fits the bill if you fill it with jam or buttercream rather than whipped cream.

Trifle, ginger cake, chocolate cake with coffee icing, chocolate truffle cake, brownies, festive decorated cupcakes, apple pie (a nice easy pillow style one using a sheet of ready roll puff pastry folded in half)

reluctantbrit · 07/12/2024 09:58

Apple Crumble (or whatever fruit you like)
Yule log
Lemon tart

Just coffee/tea/port/sherry with some biscuits or chocolates

SeaToSki · 07/12/2024 10:00

Yule log/buche de noel filled with choc ganache and fresh raspberries. Can of squirt cream for those that wish to add it

DoublePeonies · 07/12/2024 10:01

Chocolate Yule Log.

You could easily miss the raisins out if this

Sticky toffee pudding contains cream (but I will eat it happily, and don't like cream) so be careful with that.

Poached pears not in red wine. Here for example
https://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/fruit/saffron-poached-pears/
And cream adverse people don't pour on cream(or have icecream??)

Uh wow...I think I'd request that everyone bring their own.

Or do 3 different easy ones that don't overlap on too many issues so there's hopefully something for everyone.

If I were hosting and this were actually a problem I was having to deal with I think I'd skip pudding all together, do a cheese board after dinner and then a selection of petit fours with coffee.

CoffeeMad18 · 07/12/2024 10:11

Nigellas Ice Cream Cake - it's lovely, bonus it's also v easy to make ahead of time.

JC03745 · 07/12/2024 10:15

Is the no peel thing due to preservatives in dried peel? (An aunt used to get dreadful diarrhoea from the preservatives in dried fruit).

Can the person eat oranges? If so, this recipe is moist and also gluten free. Delicious with a chocolate sauce:

Whole Orange Cake - rind and all!

This unique flourless orange cake uses whole oranges - rind and all - blitzed with almond meal, sugar and eggs. Wonderful gluten free cake!

TinselToed · 07/12/2024 10:15

These are all great suggestions, I'm off to google them.

There will be cheese as well - at least everyone (bar one)) eats that!!!

Another idea. I'm making this tonight, but adding some apples too. I asked on another thread about desserts and this was recommended. You could add some Christmassy type spices too.

Some sort of festive jelly wreath.

Patienceinshortsupply · 07/12/2024 10:24

I'd uninvite them OP and make a booze soaked trifle.

Elmeux · 07/12/2024 10:25

Vienetta 😂

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 07/12/2024 10:31

Traditional trifle, no alcohol.

Bjorkdidit · 07/12/2024 10:34

Individual chocolate fondant. With cream except for the cream avoider.

AdaColeman · 07/12/2024 10:37

Black Forest trifle, serve cream separately for those who want it.

Tropical fruit salad, mangoes papaya pineapple etc, serve with little biscuits and cream separately.

You could also offer affogato for the odd one who didn't like what you had made.

Ariela · 07/12/2024 10:46

Are the reasons due to allergies/dietary reasons, or just that they don't like that item?
