Restlessinthenorth · 07/12/2024 08:43

My teen daughters stocking is full to bursting. My sons is currently rather lacking; I need to extort this!

Would people share what they are putting on stockings. My sons is 13 but happy to use it for suggestions for older teens too

My son’s the same age. So far got him some golf balls, rugby socks, set of fragrance samples and chocolate.

Eshop voucher

GroovyChick87 · 07/12/2024 08:51

Body sprays, shower gels, socks, undies, hair gel, the big stacks of Pringles, favourite noodles and other snacks.

GroovyChick87 · 07/12/2024 08:53

I've also got him one of those electronic pop games as he's always using his younger sibling's.

Pants, books, shower set, Watership Downer mug as we recently read that, chocolate of various types, bake from a bottle muffins, stationery. I might get him a calendar too.

Dobbythechristmaself · 07/12/2024 09:00

I got him (11 but quite mature) for small things….

a north face crossbody bag
a multi travel plug (we travel abroad a fair bit)
a big travel world scratch map
a novelty Christmas beanie that lights up
a box of mug cake mixes and a cookbook for mug cake recipes
books

might get him a Greggs voucher or something

Alwaystired23 · 07/12/2024 09:02

My Ds is also 13 so far

Boxers
Socks
Diary milk
Galaxy
Milka
Box of haribo
Flint and steel (scouts)
Arm torch
Head torch
Magnet building gadet (B&M)
Sand timer (magnetic).
Lynex set
Putty for keyboard

DS 2 is 11. His is pretty similar, but he has a voice changer instead of sand timer.

Have a look on wicked uncle. They had some good stocking fillers.

I'm going to get them a greggs voucher as well. Plus we've got tickets to a cheap event, so will put them in their stocking.

AutoP1lot · 07/12/2024 09:08

What's a salt spray?

It's what DS uses in his hair, it's like a cross between gel and hairspray to give that sort of surfer inspired big hair look that teenage boys seem to be sporting these days 🤷‍♀️🤣

sunshinechaser · 07/12/2024 10:00

Oh this thread has just come in time for me! We give DS two stockings (one in his bed and one on the lounge fireplace. Why did I start that years ago 😭)

This year so far I've got

Chocolate Orange
Nando's hot sauce
Toiletry wash bag for school trip in Feb
Bath bombs from Lush
Charcoal face masks
Novelty Christmas slipper socks
Uniqlo boxers
Pop a cob microwave popcorn
Gain the edge grip socks
Chocolate coins
Shower gel
Mint matchmakers
Big noodle cup with lid to eat noodles

Precious years I've bought him American candy but prob won't buy again.

Restlessinthenorth · 07/12/2024 12:54

Some great ideas on here! Thank you. Others welcome too of course!

@Sunshinechaser, one year I made the mistake of over buying and they eneded up with 2 stocking each. Luckily they were young, so haven't mentioned it. We're back to one now.

I don't have a son to buy for but I work with teen boys and some of the things I reckon the lads I work with would like, or need, include:

Stationary items - even the basics like pens etc - big pack of biros for example! Even if they don't want it, many of them are forever losing their pens and desperately need it.

Fidget toys! Many of the lads I work with absolutely love these! Popular ones are often the classics like stress balls, fidget cubes, fidget spinners. There are so many available now!

Spray deodorants - they love spraying the stuff around and coating themselves with it! Lynx seems enduringly popular.

Books. If they already like reading, get them more of what they like. If they don't, encourage them if you can! Loads of the lads I work with really like manga, currently. Popular series with the lads I know include Demon Slayer, Dragon Ball something or other, Tokyo Ghoul

Sweets, especially unusual stuff. I took some Japanese sweets in recently and these were devoured, especially some weird jelly tube things that looked repulsive to me.

Hair styling stuff, combs, even seen a few of the lads with pocket mirrors when they aren't allowed to use their phones to check their hair...

Don't rule out arty and crafty stuff - more lads than we think love drawing for example, so some decent pens or pencils. Even a little craft kit might go down well with some - I ran a craft activity recently and was surprised how many lads got stuck in and loved it.

Merchandise of their hobbies and interests (be that football team, bands, TV or game characters). My DD last Xmas got her then boyfriend a Five Nights at Freddie's plushy, and he was genuinely thrilled!

Vouchers! Again based on DD's ex, anything for food places like Greggs or Maccies - or fave shops, Primark for example, or in this one's case, Waterstones!
