Teen boy presents

What are you getting your sporty adrenaline junkie teenage boys?

I am out of ideas for DS. His suggestion was an iPhone 16. I laughed.

Previous year’s Christmas and birthday presents have included sports and gym/exercise equipment, tickets to matches/events, experience gifts (e.g. sports experiences, super car experience, tank driving experience, stadium tours, escape room). He doesn’t need any tech.

Hopeful bump for ideas because he will not be getting an iPhone 16.

Do you have a local dry ski slope? How about a learn to ski course?

Playdoughcaterpillar · 07/12/2024 17:20

Trainers, aftershave, still likes lego, grip socks for sports. Has he got a boxbollen?

Unoexpress · 07/12/2024 17:32

One of mine is into climbing, so he's getting
Sticky chalk
New chalk bag
6 months membership to climbing gym

CoffeeChocolateWine · 07/12/2024 17:38

I have a sporty 16yo although not sure about 'adrenaline junkie'! He's also just had his birthday so across both he's had/is getting...
Theme park annual pass
Golf lessons
Tracksuit
Nike trainers
Nike miler tshirt
Mystery football shirt
Nike drawstring bag
Dartboard
Aftershave x2
Silver chain necklace
Mini fridge
Gaming mouse and mat

Agree the phone is a bit much but maybe some money towards it would be better than wasting money on stuff he does not really want. Could you get everyone to chip in ??
Mine are older now but I saw so much tat just end up shoved in drawers that they never used. Cash or a joint gift would have been better with hindsight

PresentNC · 07/12/2024 17:44

Some good suggestions here. I hope to avoid cash. DS already has some of the suggestions posted. He can already ski and snowboard but further lessons are a good shout. He is no longer interested in Lego. I have other DC who are and it makes present buying much easier.

I don’t want to give money towards an iPhone 16. There is nothing wrong with his current iPhone. The cash wouldn’t even be half of what is needed for the iPhone 16 and he has ADHD, which means he isn’t brilliant at saving.

I got mine a blacksmith for a day experience, he does want to be a farrier so quite niche. Mine has ADHD so I understand what you mean about money.

XelaM · 07/12/2024 18:57

Why are you so against an iPhone16 if it's all he wants and his only present? A monthly contract spreads the cost. Better than getting loads of stuff he doesn't want.

PresentNC · 07/12/2024 19:12

@Linysky a blacksmith experience sounds fascinating. I bet your DS loved it.

@XelaM it is too expensive. A monthly contract is cheaper in the short term but works out a lot more expensive overall.

Ds1 wants a Kart but we don't have a few thousand to spend so hes getting trainers and kart sessions instead.

I wouldn't spend money on a phone either. That's the kind of thing ds can save for himself if he wants it.

Bibbitybobbity70 · 07/12/2024 20:03

No other suggestions but teen DD had same response to her request for iPhone. Her expectations have been adjusted but still awaiting a new list

PresentNC · 07/12/2024 20:47

@Bibbitybobbity70 glad it’s not just me.

@Pascha karting is a brilliant idea. That’s the type of thing DS loves. He has enjoyed karting when he has been in the past.
