Best London Christmas markets!

I have two girlfriends coming up to London for the day soon, and we wanted to do lunch and a day of lovely Christmassy things. I want to find a nice restaurant for lunch (not too expensive!) and a Christmas market for atmosphere and a bit of shopping.

I’m aware that some markets are a bit rubbish, and honestly places like Winter Wonderland just sound expensive and stressful.

We used to meet sometimes and do window shopping on Kings Road or in Covent Garden, would there be anything close to there?

They’re looking to me to organise the whole thing because I live here… and yes, I do, but I have very little social life and not much money these days so I don’t exactly have my finger on the pulse!

Borough Market has a great festive feel at this time of year, but it's mainly all food stalls. I really like Old Spitalfields Market for candles, kitchenware, gifts etc... and it's super Christmassy right now. There's also Southbank which looks magical after dark and you can find some lovely products but it's touristy and pricy.

give Southbank a miss - there are a handful of sheds of mainly overpriced food.

Battersea would be quite nice.

Greenwich Market is very festive with little gift stalls and lovely Xmas lights. Food stalls in the market or plenty of restaurants and pubs for lunch. Open on Saturdays and Sundays.. You have the Greenwich park and the river also for walks and lots of history. You can get a Thames Clipper from Central London to get there or the usual train/DLR.
