International postage on Christmas cards

Hello
Is there a way of posting abroad without going to the Post Office?
I have one of those automated Royal Mail machines nearby but not used it and not sure quite what it does.

If it'll fit in a post box and if you have scales and a ruler at home you can buy postage online. But you have to make sure you can print off the label and the customs label too. Royal Mail used to collect for free as well if needed

Yes, @Justhereforthechristmasthreads they do still collect for free, and there's the option for them to bring the labels with them if you don't have a printer.
