Asked santa for present he won't play with!

My son has asked for a doll "that walks and talks and closes its eyes when it sleeps" which I believe is from peppa pig.. he won't play with it! Baby Annabels are so expensive, and cheaper dolls don't do what he's asking for. But then he'll loose faith in santa if he doesn't get it, won't he?

My DS was about 4 or 5 when he was determined to spend some birthday money on a set of things like bottle/nappy/potty etc for a baby doll we had. He played with it loads!

Not sure how you can be so sure it won't be played with. I'm sure you can get one second hand on FB marketplace.

Seems a bit of a leap from Peppa! Maybe a wrong board?

Op I think if he really wants it then I'd get it. I'd probably have a few non leading questions about it and why he wants it first if its an expensive present but if he holds fast then I'd get it.

How old is he? Both my boys loved their babies. DS1 saved all his money when he was 6 and bought a toy SilverCross pram. (He insisted he had to have a blue one. And it was the only one we could find)

My DS will claim he wants something random he’s seen on an advert or whatever; he doesn’t.

We don’t really do Santa but I’m sure he won’t lose faith if Santa brings him a surprise!

No idea if you are eught about the play value but we always had the caveat that you xan give santa ideas but sometimes he will pock sometging he thinks is a better idea. Hs is not a randim wish generator

I think if he's asked for that then get it for him but if you think he genuinely isn't that bothered and won't remember then don't

Do children lose their faith in Santa if they don't get everything they ask for? Surely they don't - there must be loads of children who don't get what they asked for for various reasons.

I bought my DGS a doll last Christmas he's called Josh and often goes out in his buggy. My DD gets annoyed with it as she's always forced to babysit

My friends little boy loves his bubbu (doll) when he was three ish and looked after it for ages played with & "breastfed" it regularly 😂

The reason I think he won't play with it is that he already has a soft doll with a bottle and nappy changing kit and bottle, and even when I get it out to start the play he isn't interested. I did mention that to him when we were doing his letter to santa but he was positive it's what he wants. As a lot of you have said, I'll try to see if I can get it second hand

Now you've said it this seems so obvious, it's my first year where he fully knows what is happening and I probably should have set it up that santa might not get everything on his list as a future proof. Will be kicking myself when he asks for a horse or something next year

I loved my parents & all was well, but I wanted to be an adult & live independently from when I was very young. Before I could talk I played in my Wendy house house setting phone!

I think I always kinda of instinctively knew Santa wouldn't bring those things, but just to keep reminding my parents!!!

if you get the doll he really wants then he might play with it. Poor other doll, I'm glad you play with her!!

my little brother (3) fell in love with a doll when we were on holiday & he really, really wanted it, but my Dad said NO. It was a standing doll & I think if you held its hand it would walk with you?! It was kind of toddler size. But this was the 70's and boys don't have dolls! It was expensive too.

my brother used to play house with me too.
