What is cool for 11 year old girls? Budget approx £50

StewardsEnquiry · 30/11/2024 17:23

Please help me!! I need to buy two Christmas presents for my nieces who are 11 years old. They are cool and trendy, and already seemingly have everything. I've scoured the Christmas threads for ideas and every time I think I've come up with a solution for a gift it turns out they already have it.

They are sporty, into football and netball, like Taylor Swift, they like fashionable skincare that is popular at the moment (eg Drunk Elephant or Bubble).

Ideas that I have had that are no good: a book (doesn't much like reading); a photo book about Taylor Swift (already have it); some Bubble skincare (someone else is already buying); some of that bum bum cream/body spray (already has loads).

Tentative ideas I had but I don't know exactly what to get:
jewellery of some kind? Is anything cool amongst 11 year olds? Is there a brand I could look at?
Is there a haircare equivalent of Bubble etc that is a brand they would really like because it is popular on Tiktok?
Are White Fox hoodies still cool?

Or something else completely? Please hit me with any and all of your ideas and wisdom because I'm starting to panic a bit now!

Sephora gift card and some sweets/chocolate

neonleopard · 30/11/2024 20:45

Yes to white fox hoodies but I think it a bit area specific ?? Nike is popular -- Nike Pro and Nike white socks in particular! JD sport voucher?

Bubble tea kits? Bubble Panda kits are great. Lush bath bombs / bubble bars?

Superdrug gift card is what my 11 to neice wants.

Cinema vouchers and a treat hamper ?

Readyforseptember · 30/11/2024 20:49

White fox hoodies are definitely still in round our way, i know several teens asking for them for xmas. Laneige lip scrub from sephora (last I checked they didn't do gift cards), Glossier lip gloss from space nk, anything hollister or brandy melville.

ilikeeggs · 30/11/2024 21:14

My 11 year old has asked for a white fox hoodie for Christmas and they seem to still be popular with that age group.
What about PLouise makeup? Ariana Grande perfume?
My dd loves getting gift cards now so you could always get those for somewhere they like if you can’t find anything.

TheDefiant · 30/11/2024 21:16

Brandy Melville clothes.

snoopysnoooper · 30/11/2024 21:18

My dd is turning 11 just before Christmas but is a bit more on the alternative side. She has asked for a White Fox hoodie though so I think that would be a safe bet.

She loves makeup and also really into fragrances at the minute and loves stuff from Lush.

Primark have some really nice women's pink satin striped shorty pyjamas at the minute which are very Victoria Secret esque. They go down to a pretty small size which will probably fit them. I think they would go down well.

Juliagreeneyes · 30/11/2024 21:34

My DD just recently turned 12 and Jellycat toys are super-popular with that age group - they are ridiculously overpriced these days but teenage girls love them, especially the pastries and vegetables for some reason! A Jellycat item, and a gift voucher for somewhere like Boots would be ideal (or a bubble tea making kit).

Soubriquet · 30/11/2024 21:47

My 11 year old dd is looking for clothing, jewellery, books, art supplies and of course boba tea.

Im getting both her and 9 year old ds a kit from
bubble panda

SootspriteSearcher · 30/11/2024 22:48

My dd is 12 and a big swiftie!

Amongst dd and her school friends white fox hoodies are no longer in.. dd says due to the amount of adults wearing them makes it cringe. However totally ok for us to wear matching show merch or band jumpers. Pre-Teenage logic 🤣

My dds list she wrote (won't get all) 😆
Sol de janero sprays
Arianna Grande perfume
Lush bath bombs (there's a new wicked range)
Posters - there's several taylor poster books.
Oodie
Stickers
Make up pouch (taylor or musical themed)
Oversized taylor/olivia rodrigo/noah kahan/gracie abrams/1 direction/conan grey hoodie or tshirt.
Necklace (I've bought a name one)
Compact mirror
Mini hairbrush
Crystals
Jellycat or palm pal
Glitter setting spray
Lip oil
Clear mascara
Fidget toys
Positive affirmation pens
Sharpies
Lined crocs
Books, books and more books 🤣

Alternatively could you take them to a show (we've got six but was that or mean girls. This year we've seen &juliet, dear evan hansen, heathers, wicked and matilda and dd loved them all!) Or a taylor swift cover artist? We saw taylormania and it was actually really good, she's touring again next year!

I got most taylor merch from temuu/shein or alliexpress and pretty impressed with the quality!

Cantbelievethatimafoolagain · 30/11/2024 22:51

Give them £50 cash

RealHousewivesOfTaunton · 30/11/2024 23:27

If they have Crocs, my 12yo DD is coveting Taylor Swift jibets.

Otherwise: boba tea kit, Starbucks/Costa voucher.

WhichEllie · 30/11/2024 23:44

Agree with Brandy Melville clothes or vouchers.

Gisou hair oil/products. Anything rhode if you can get it (the lip balms and blushes are wildly popular). Face masks if they like those?

MoonlightMedicine · 30/11/2024 23:51

Can I ask where people are getting white fox hoodies in the UK? When I google there seems to be a lot of fake sites...

Stanley cup?

StewardsEnquiry · 01/12/2024 08:53

Stanley cup is a great shout, but is another thing they already have. They're early adopters!!!

This thread is so helpful - I've got some fantastic ideas. Thank you so much. I knew I could rely on Mumsnet. I'm a bit clueless.

Can I ask about Brandy Melville clothes? Why are these cool? Is this a tiktok thing? The website looks, erm, quite basic. And the quality doesn't seem great. Any recommendations in particular?

If I bought a Hollister hoodie, what size would you go for for a quite petite 11 year old? Would the xxs be okay? For reference, I think she is okay in the smallest adult size in Primark (is that also xxs?).

sw13007 · 01/12/2024 09:09

Brandy Melville has been around for years and quality is surprisingly ok. Sizes are usually one size fits 'all'.
Subdued is the other one that is popular but more expensive and returns are a nightmare!

Opuntia · 01/12/2024 09:11

I got my 2 step daughters (just 12 and 14 for their birthdays) really soft fluffy dressing gowns from m and s which they seem to absolutely love and spend all their time in 😂

Opuntia · 01/12/2024 09:12

This thread is great though as it's giving me good ideas for Xmas!

Brandy Melville v popular here (even for my adult dd)

TheGriffle · 01/12/2024 09:15

My 11 year old has a white fox jumper and PLouise lip oil for Christmas. She’d love things from Lush or Bubble tea.

If they have their ears pierced Solace Jewellery is good, this is where I’ve bought all mine and DD’s earrings from for Christmas.

kikiandgigi · 01/12/2024 09:40

@SootspriteSearcher what glitter setting spray have you gone for?

theyoungishman · 01/12/2024 10:28

Sol de Janeiro anything!

I got her this one from revolution, she's got a few bits of their make up and actually really likes it!
