Is anyone struggling with it yet? Who is the twitch for? Is it anything specific or just general? Share the trouble and help others to avoid acting on it.

I have a small number of presents for DH and adult DD who will be spending Christmas with us. I just need some treats for our cats and her rats and hamster who are all coming to stay for two weeks. Well away from the cats don't panic.
I am twitching with both. Both know they are having just a few gifts and are fine with that but......😣 The damn twitch.

Meeeeeeee! I'm the absolute WORST for this and drive poor DW potty every year.

I am absolutely incapable of stopping when it comes to my teen DC. Who is spoilt beyond belief and has everything they could every wish for and yet I still.can't.stop.

I am finished, finito, DONE! Nobody needs a single thing. I am leaving the bargain threads today, hiding the christmas forum 😂

MadmansLibrary · 29/11/2024 14:38

My twitch doesn't usually occur until the last weekend before Christmas, when I'm wrapping everything. Then it looks like a pile of nothing and I feel bad. This year I'm going to try and turn the twitch onto food instead. 😂

I am. With DH.

He asked for clothes, so he’s got clothes. But there’s nothing thoughtful or exciting about any of his gifts. He puts so much effort into everyone else’s presents, especially mine, and he never treats himself or spends any money on himself, and I want to spoil him, or at least get him something he’s excited about. He’s a golfer but either has everything or is incredibly particular about what he’d want and wouldn’t want and I’m clueless. I know he’d love the Ninja slushy maker and I can do it financially, but they’re either sold out or ten times the price. I feel it’s cheating to get him tickets to something or a weekend away because he’d take me and then it would be a treat for both of us. He’s not a big drinker. And it’s his birthday in January so that doesn’t help 🤦🏻‍♀️

Ah, I was waiting for this thread 😁

Always always twitch with the DC (DD8 and DS6). I am supposedly done, each have a nice number of gifts, though slightly fewer than last year and perhaps not as varied, particularly with DD.

Also a couple of things DS has mentioned/see (a schleich mosasaurus - though I have bought two others he also pointed out! But perhaps with not as much fervour as the mosasaurus?!) and a light sabre (has recently got into Star Wars).

I imagine I will buy at least one more thing for each 🤣

Can you send me some twitchy vibes? Usually I go OTT with the stockings, but I can't even get started this year.

I've got a present for my dad....

You’ve given me an anxious twitch now! 😬 I’m panicking about not being as organised as I usually am (I usually have everything bought by now except the fresh stuff) and you’re flying by the seat of your pants.

GameOfJones · 29/11/2024 17:04

This is SO me.

I like to be organised every year with presents and have all my gift shopping done by the start of December so I can just focus on food and enjoying myself.

But I made the fatal error of going shopping in my local city today. Despite having finished presents for DDs I saw something fabulous for DD1 and bought it AND another present DM would like. I've decided to put them away for their birthdays which are fortunately in the first half of the year. I've also purposefully stayed away from the bargain threads!

LegoTherapy · 29/11/2024 18:32

My mum! She told me to buy her less this year and I thought I had achieved that but looking at my list I've got her more than the dcs🤦‍♀️ She'll tell me off. Again 😁 She deserves nice things. She was hard up all her life and is 85 and I like to treat her. She gets a stocking and a sack and something from Father Christmas under the tree.

fourelementary · 29/11/2024 18:39

Me! I couldn’t resist an Only Curls set in their BF sale for DD and then right after I’d ordered, I decided other DD needed the same.

Neither of them need anything else 🤦🏻‍♀️

pinkksugarmouse · 30/11/2024 20:34

Well I did it. I bought a shirt and two pairs of chinos for DH. My justification is that he needs them so that's ok. 😆

I'm an actual nightmare with DD.

This year she knows what her presents are as she's either chosen them or seen them when she had to try them on for size, so it doesn't seem like it will be exciting- dd is more than happy with what she has and has said she doesn't want anything else but if I don't twitch it will be a miracle. I've already been googling 😂

fourelementary · 30/11/2024 22:18

Oh and a keyboard seen here on the bargain thread. Bought today for (admittedly musical) DS- which he will be delighted by…

but we have an electric piano so it REALLY isn’t necessary!!!!

pinkksugarmouse · 01/12/2024 17:30

Did my 22 year old DD NEED a Paddington Bear plushy NO...but 😆 it's gorgeous. We went to see Paddington in Peru on Thursday to celebrate her birthday. She's still very "young" in many ways. Her intelligence is average to high but her autism means she is emotionally very vulnerable. She teared up at the film. It was a lovely day out for us both especially as she struggles with being out. I know she will love the bear and it's been ages since I last bought her a teddy bear. She uses her "big ted" for emotional support. She took him to college. Her classmates were very supportive and accomodating of her needs a huge improvement on school.

Long excuse I know but it's a gift that will really mean something.
Just treats for 2 cats, 2 rats and a hamster now. 🐀🐀🐈‍⬛️🐈‍⬛️🐹**
