We have bought an expensive pre lit Christmas tree. Are the rattan type skirts still a thing or is it ok to show the stand or whatever isn’t naff these days please? Thanks

they sell skirts in Aldi not rattan but of festive fabric type stuff.

UncharteredWaters · 24/11/2024 11:17

I have a green velvet cloak thing ( was a dress up toy) but a tree skirt is similar.

MarketValveForks · 24/11/2024 11:22

Doesn't matter whether it's a real xmas tree (where the stump is held in a stand) or an artificial one, the base is always a bit unsightly. I bought a big "santa sack" from one of the budget homeware stores (wilko/the range) that I put the base into before erecting the tree and that looks better imo as less fussy than a skirt.

CandyCane457 · 24/11/2024 11:38

I personally think the rattan ones look way better than the fabric!

Whothefuckdoesthat · 24/11/2024 12:07

You can get the rattan ones all over the place, either square or round. Or metal ones, or bag style ones. Or you can get fabric skirts made of anything from cheap felt to faux fur.

stealthninjamum · 24/11/2024 12:08

I have a couple of fabric skirts but once you’ve put a couple of presents down you don’t notice either the base or the skirt.

Rasputin123 · 24/11/2024 12:19

Thanks all DH moaning either we don’t need anything where are we going to store it or his DM used to wrap crepe paper or christmas wrapping around it etc.

Tried B&M yesterday but they only had mahoosive rattan ones left. Will try elsewhere today

Our Dunelm had lots in yesterday. You can get the square ones that fold flat, so don’t take up much room in storage.

Whothefuckdoesthat · 24/11/2024 12:27

Or something like this, that can be folded

I think even some of the round ones can be collapsed now.

We have a couple of the rattan ones, they look lovely. They live on the top of our wardrobe as they are quite big

littlebirdieblu · 24/11/2024 12:32

Amazon have these which are great!

I twist tinsel round the base of mine.

CoastalCalm · 24/11/2024 12:40

I have a rattan one from dunelm , it lives in the garage outside of Christmas on a high shelf and it does look lovely when used

TTPDTS · 24/11/2024 12:40

I've got my trees either in rattan tree shirts, or giant rattan baskets and they look really good!

MarvelJesus · 24/11/2024 12:43

I have a couple of lengths of squishy white fabric fake snow which I wrap artfully* around to disguise the base.

*well, as artfully as I can!
