Shopping centre recommendations Yorkshire

Hi, I've decided this year that rather than order my presents online, I'll attempt to buy them from actual physical shops..Can anyone recommend.a good shopping centre in the Yorkshire region (preferably East Yorkshire) with a good selection of shops, including a toy shop? I was thinking maybe Junction 32 in Castleford but I haven't been before. Thanks in advance.

Junction 32 is mainly outlet/clearance shops so you might get some bargains but it’s not the same as the high street. It’s also all outdoors. I don’t recall there being a toy shop There is an indoor designer outlet nearer you, just outside York:

However, York itself is lovely for Xmas shopping, or why not head into Leeds? The Trinity shopping centre has all the high street shops including The Entertainer.

York Designer Outlet | Up to 60% less | McArthurGlen

Save from up to 60% on a great range of designer brands at York Designer Outlet. Visit our website now to find out more.

Junction 32 has one toyshop and a game outlet. Mcarthur Glen is pretty similar but with higher end outlets but no toy shops. White rose in Leeds is OK, mostly highstreet shops. As previously said if want variety you might be better with a city centre. I love shopping in the Piece Hall in Halifax as it has some great independent shops but no where neat East Yorkshire.

The Piece Hall is great, I always buy presents when I visit there. Such a decent range of independent and original shops. Also some of the Victorian arcades in Leeds are great for that, and the Craft Centre under the Art Gallery. Saltaire bookshop and gallery have great ranges of presents too. Especially the book shop - just gorgeous editions.

Harrogate has some nice shops too,

Again, not terribly East Yorks, nor shopping centre-ish. Sorry.

I think if you are wanting to guarantee finding something for a range of people all in one place it will have to be Meadow Hell which I realize is not East Yorkshire. White Rose is ok but quite small and McArthur Glen is limited in terms of the range of shops.

I lived in Yorkshire for many years; can confirm everything that's already been said. White Rose especially is just adequate. I'd make a day of it, go up to York - plenty of independent shops - and round off the day with a carol service.

York isn’t actually that great for shopping - no major department stores and not that many chains - they’ve either moved out to the retail parks or left altogether (John Lewis has gone after a few short years!). The m and s is quite small too. It depends what you want to buy but if you want normal/ useful gifts I’d probably recommend Meadowhall or at least Leeds city centre.

If you're east Yorkshire why not go to Beverley? Lots of independent shops and chains there, I can't remember if there's a toyshop though.

If you head to York please use the park and ride!

Yes! Was coming on to say the Piece Hall! What a delightful place. Great for presents. More West Yorkshire.

Looks like I might bump into some of you at The Piece Hall this weekend 😀
If you want a decent shopping centre try Meadowhall or even McArthur Glen near York.
White Rose Centre near Leeds is a bit rubbish, although its better now they have opened a big M&S there . I wouldn't bother with Jn 32

I’ve promised myself a mixed scoop of old coins from the antiques place upstairs when I’m there next week. I can spend hours messing around with those. Irresistible.

How about Hull? Lots of shops and it’s quite pretty in winter.
