Laptop for 9 year old

We don't have a family laptop (I have my work one) and my 9 year old wants a laptop for homework, playing games etc.for Christmas! They already have an Amazon fire tablet but they can't do their homework on this unfortunately.

I want to make sure I am able to put strict parental control of the internet on it and nothing too expensive as they are only 9! I want it to last a few years so something sturdy.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm getting my 10 year old a laptop as he keeps stealing mine to use lol (and he'll need one for secondary school next year). We got him a Lenovo LOQ beginners gaming laptop. It's this one (I got it in a sale though. I did NOT pay £799 for it! I paid about £500). Buy Lenovo LOQ 15in i5 16GB 512GB A530M Gaming Laptop | Gaming laptops | Argos

I currently use an ASUS Vivobook which costs around £329 on Argos if you want something a bit more budget. You won't be able to play a lot of high end games on it but you can easily play Roblox, Minecraft and a fair few Steam Games on it (Universe Sandbox, Cities Skylines, Terraria, Sims 4 etc). I’d look at Backmarket for a second hand one - we recently got a decent Lenovo for £200 rather than the £400ish it would have been new
