DD age 10 is wanting a VR headset for Christmas but we can't stretch to a really pricey Meta one. Can anyone recommend one for a budget of about £120?

What is she going to use it with? Playstation? PC?

For that budget you can get one of those cardboard ones to use with your phone, or maybe a secondhand, not in great condition or without original packaging Quest 2 on eBay however most will still likely be over £200.

The only other standalone is the Piko4 which is currently on sale in Argos for £500.

Your chances of finding a decent, standalone VR headset for under £200 are very slim.

Are you able to get her to hold off til next birthday and save a little more for one? The majority under that price aren't worth it

I could do, but not keen on spending a fortune on something I'm not convinced she'll use much tbh. Her friend, whose family are much better off than us financially, got one for Xmas and she enjoyed playing it on a couple of visits but the cost of one is our entire budget for both my DCs

my dd was the same, but we did opt to hold off until she had 'saved' enough. She still got a smaller Xmas present, but most of the money of two birthdays and 1 xmas was put in her quest 3 fund. Last year she received the quest and she's using it a lot. I personally wouldn't bother getting a cheaper alternative and at 10 she should be old enough to understand the reasoning I hope.
