A 2 year old who seems to have everything?

My third child has inherited his siblings' toys so has plenty of stuff. However, his siblings are young enough that he still needs to get a stocking with stuff from Santa, and a few things from us so that they don't think it's strange/he doesn't feel left out.

Now he's 2 there's nothing that's been away for long enough to wrap up and give to him (we did this with baby toys previously but now he mostly plays with stuff that's not outgrown by the others or only outgrown recently).

We have loads of Fisher Price Little People, wooden blocks and shapes, loads of wooden train track, Playmobil, fuzzy felt, stickle bricks, balls of all types, loads of dress up, loads of Duplo, a million soft toys, lots of farm stuff, loads of cars, loads of dinosaurs, loads of other hard animals, lots of orchard toys games, millions of books, loads of jigsaws, shape sorters, doll stuff and pushchairs etc, play kitchen, play ice-cream truck, loads of play food, sink, plates etc, toy till and trolley, easel, loads of craft stuff, tent and tunnel, loads of garden toys (ride ons, football goal, mini trampoline, hoops, rackets and balls, outside chalk etc), loads of playdough and different stuff, remote control cars, dolls house and contents, loads of bath toys.

Can anyone think of anything he doesn't have that I could get him?! I can think of some small things like stickers, bath stuff for the stocking but otherwise I'm a bit stumped.

If you think he's spoilt and has too much already, you're probably right, but no need to post as I do need to have something to wrap up!

I’m in a similar position- youngest is 3, older ones are 8 & 12 but I’ve kept a lot from when they were younger & we have so much stuff.
Ive got him some magnetic tiles as we’ve never had those! Otherwise I try to get things that can be added to an existing collection- eg more Duplo- so that i don’t really have to find a home for it!!
Or things for the garden which aren’t going to clutter the house, lol!
Is there anything your DS really likes?- mine loves cars & even though we had quite a lot already, it’s nice for him to get some that are just ‘his’

Clothing? Some tops with characters on it he likes?

Anything practical? Swimming aid, swimsuit, mugs, plate, bottle

Then put some money aside for a family gift like a membership to a zoo or similar?

xmasdealhunter · 11/11/2024 19:41

A tonies box? Lots available on facebook marketplace/ebay if you don't want to pay full price!

wouldthatbeworse · 11/11/2024 19:42

magnatiles?
anything consumable that needs to be replaced e.g. bubble bath, novelty toothbrush
character stuff from something he likes watching
new lift the flap books that don't hand down well
personalised things e.g. towels
(can you tell we have the same problem)

Ponche · 11/11/2024 19:42

My 2 year old loves her older sister’s Yoto Mini- how about that?

MemphisBluesAgain · 11/11/2024 19:44

Maybe a personalised book? There are various companies that do this e.g. Wonderbly.

Twobabiesandamadcat · 11/11/2024 19:45

I also have a soon to be 2 year old who has everything thanks to having an older sister.

Some of the things she's getting:

a balance beam/stepping stone thing from decathlon
Aqua mat
Little tikes washing machine and a wooden ironing board
A pitter patter pet
Bath time animal stickers
Learning resources fish bowl friends

Then just replacements of consumables like new crayons and stickers and such

We've got a similar issue with DS2! He's getting a book about cats because he loves them and a role play set that looks like our kettle as he seems to have a little more interest in imaginary play than his older brother.

Last year we got one of those picture frames where you can display artwork and keep on adding new bits of paper and a lot of art supplies (finger paints and things) as they run out.

Maybe something for the bath? Bath toys can get a bit minging.

Can you give us some clues about what he likes playing with most?

Winterwellies · 11/11/2024 19:47

Children's books you don't already have, maybe some new releases.

Purplehanger · 11/11/2024 19:49

Yoto player (ours gets used daily)

He loves animals, but is very fickle so will be a different one he's excited about every week or so.

He doesn't have a great attention span, so kind of moves from one thing to another. He enjoys Duplo, trains, cars, and role play (getting out food/plates/cups for us or soft toys. He's keen to do drawing etc when he sees his siblings do it but actually never does much and just ends up asking me or DH to draw for him.

He has millions of clothes, all swimming stuff etc, mostly hand me downs but lots in really great condition.

We do have a Tonies but feel like we have loads of the characters already. We have that balance beam thing, it's great!

Aqua mat is a good call as we had one but it went funny so we threw it out. I'd also been thinking about Magnatiles, wasn't sure if they'd be too old though although I guess if his older siblings play with them instead that's fine.

Thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming as this is really helpful.

Actually a personalised book is a good call too.

Also should have said that he's only just two, and pretty young for his age I'd say in terms of doing anything complex or understanding games.

Used up any remaining good ideas I had for his birthday although we mainly did experience stuff!

What about the Orchard postbox game OP? That went down well with my lively 2 year old a few years ago. Oh and Monkey Around, it's like a first board game with a soft banana and physical tasks to do. It's great for getting some energy out and my DD still plays it.

EvenLess · 11/11/2024 20:13

Both these games can be played in a very simple, basic way with no need to read complex instructions

greentreeseverywhere · 11/11/2024 20:17

Saw a version of magnatiles magnatown? there was a bluey one and fire station at smyths
I'm thinking of getting my 1 year old as he loves his big sisters tiles

Oh we don't have either of these! Great suggestion.

Could you post a link to the Monkey game please? I can’t find it!
