Buying for 14 and 17 daughters and I’m wanting to buy a couple of surprise presents.
Which brands are ‘in’ at the moment please for skincare and of good quality?
Looking at serums, moisturisers etc.
Bubble? Byoma? Drunk Elephant? Glow Recipe?

‘In’ and good quality are two very different things when it comes to skincare!

Drunk Elephant in particular is awful - incredibly overpriced and the majority of their products not suited to teenage skin due to a high concentration of active ingredients. I bought DD one of their more mild cleansers last year - we both concluded that it was absolutely rubbish

Bubble & Byoma aren't brilliant in terms of quality but they won’t do any harm - teens love the packaging more than anything. The best out of a bad trendy bunch in my opinion

Personally what I would do is get them each a voucher and take them on a trip to Space NK. Teens love it there and the sales assistants are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable - not pushy at all. They will be able to advise on the most appropriate products for your girls’ skin.

The Ordinary is good and in

Was going to suggest The Ordinary.

My 15 year old and her friends rave about The Ordinary and prefer this over Byoma. Their website also has 23% off everything during November

destiel00 · 09/11/2024 17:07

Check out Korean skincare

It's amazing

Decapitatedsausage · 09/11/2024 17:22

The ordinary and the inkey list are big favourites here with my girls

sallydoodlecat · 09/11/2024 17:26

Check out spots and stripes. Designed for teens. Gentle on skin. My daughter loves the cleanser

Gawd, I paid a fortune for the Ordinary stuff for DD last xmas, I'm not convinced she ever used it.

Teens seem to get obssessed with a brand for a short while and then on to the next thing they see on tik tok.

My dd uses the ordinary and its really improved her skin. They have an offer on atm free moisturiser with purchase and 23% off everything. She also likes erborian.

I would say bubble and byoma but if u are looking for spot removers, pimple patches from starface or aveeno for dry skin. My 12 yo doesnt use ant=ything except vaseline for lips

greengagesummers · 18/09/2025 17:35

The Ordinary (and it’s not too expensive). DD also likes Benefit - old but classic! Laneige is also desirable at her school.
