Any ideas what I can get? She doesn't have much spare cash and is a bit of a hoarder so ideally practical gifts and treats, luxury beauty and food items. She likes eating out, gardening, formula 1, TV, cooking, quizzes.

All I’ve got on the list for my 80 year old mum’s stocking is socks, posh soap and car sweets (the kind that come in the round tin that have powdered sugar). She isn’t into cosmetics or anything like that and has an endless supply of her great love - non fiction books!

Ssmiler · 07/11/2024 20:13

Get your crayons out and make a pretty “voucher” that says you will bring her to a cafe/ restaurant/ afternoon tea/ nail appointment / outing - anytHing you know she’ll enjoy 😊

I always get mine a jigsaw themed to something she likes, some form of beauty (this year it's neck cream), chocolate, and a book and some nice pens

Werp · 07/11/2024 20:16

Does she get cold while doing outdoorsy things? Turtledove handwarmers and pachamama legwarmers are lovely.

Kew Gardens soap - lemon and lime is my favourite but I love them all
Glittery emery board
Orange sticks for cuticles
Kiehls grapefruit hand cream (depending on budget!)
Castle Farm lavender bag but only if you are doing them for several people due to postage
Mini honey dipper (lots on etsy)

Love the seed idea
Paperwhite narcissus bulbs

My mum is a similar age and has asked for a nice notebook she can keep in her bag, a giant Toblerone, a letter writing set, a set of nice soaps and a laptop tray. Am also planning to give her a new winter hat, Turkish delight, possibly some blood orange gin and a good book.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 07/11/2024 22:45

Gloves or a scraf
Family photo calendar (most photo services do them or you can design one yourself using a calendar making app)
Body lotion
Fragrance she likes
DIY kits for candle making or soap making or a paint by numbers set
If she's into crafts, you can get her supplies for it or a gift card so that she could get what she needs

We've done a couple of alpaca treks which are great and mum loves (she's a few years older than yours), so this year have got her alpaca wool gloves and socks. I'll also get her some posh liquorice and need to see if the new Rivers of London book is out in paperback yet, oh and a facial as she loves them but will never buy one for herself. Getting her and dad a new TV so only small things.
