Let’s face it, “warm white” Christmas lights are actually orange

And if you have recently bought some that are more white or heading towards clear, then please let me know!

We have some Noma white or bright white lights (can't remember exactly until I get the box out) and they are what I would call a 'cold' white. I have gone off them and I'm replacing them with warm white this year as they appear cosier.

I can confirm they are a golden glow.

Description was : - tiny candle lights lit by static, warm white LEDs

We have warm white which are more yellow and bright white which are actually white and a lot brighter.

what I’m seeking (and not finding) is a warm white without the orange glow. I have a Balsam Hill garland which has warm lights without the orange glow of the Range lights on my tree and I’d like to match them better. Maybe I’ll have more luck at JL or a garden centre. I saw loads of lights last year outside people’s houses which, if not the cool white, just looked orange.

The colour of these are potentially more what I’m after, thank you

Yep.

Though I spent £100 this year on snazzy app controlled lights which have many colours and settings and I love them, but they do enable you to create your own colours and I think i've achieved a 'warm white' which isn't orange.

And yes, before anyone comments, my decs are up already. I love the Xmas season and decorations so put them up on the 1st November.

Do you have a link @KindQuail to these snazzy lights? That actually sounds like a good idea.

You’re right and some of the (not warm) white ones look almost blue. I think there’s a gap in the market for Actually White Christmas lights.

I've been trying to find yellower ones for years, all the 'warm white' ones are too cold for me! Maybe we should swap?

Chersfrozenface · 04/11/2024 15:09

"Warm white" LED lights are actually orange.

So I found a set of lights with old school incandescent bulbs which really are warm white.

LED bulbs just can't mimic the tones of incandescent ones, in my experience.

Well in that case, take yourself to the Range! It got to the point last year that every time we drove past somebody’s house with orangey lights, I was muttering “Bet they got those lights from the Range.”

Multi coloured are the only truly warm and cosy Christmas lights anyway

Actually white. Perfect name for it. Not Burn Your Retinas ice white or Leftover Halloween warm white.

By the time I find the white I want, I’ll be back thinking let’s do multicoloured this year 🤷‍♀️
