Help me decide what I want for Christmas!

Hi everyone,

I’m in a bit of a pickle and could use your help! My parents have kindly given me a budget of £175 for Christmas, but I’m struggling to think of what I actually want. They’ve already treated me to a lovely gift box from The White Company, so I’m all set with those kinds of goodies.

My husband has me covered on other big wishes—he’s getting me the Shark hair styling tool I’ve been eyeing, plus a pair of Uggs. I’ve also recently bought new Ugg slippers, stocked up on makeup, and I’m trying to work through my big skincare stash, so no need for more of that. I’m also set for perfume, don’t need clothes (thanks to Mounjaro), and I don’t have any hobbies at the moment.

Just to make it even trickier:

•	I’m not after anything for the house (no pots, pans, etc.).
•	I’m not a big drinker these days, so alcohol-related gifts are out.
•	I’m also not interested in experience days or random gift hampers.

So, what on earth do I ask for with the £175 budget? I’d love some ideas for something fun, special, or a little out-of-the-box—anything I might not have thought of!

Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

rosydreams · 03/11/2024 12:38

i wish i knew what i wanted i spend so much time working on other people christmas stuff i have no idea for myself.it would be nice to get something i actually want. One year my other half gave me a generic dinner set we needed for the house from asda thinking i would like it.At least he tried though

yeah for that price you could go for a mini weekend last time i booked a hotel with pool for two nights it was a about that much for the two of us .Nice to get away for a small weekend

A tattoo?

LittleRedRidingHoody · 03/11/2024 13:02

A really nice haircut?

As others have said hotel voucher etc.

Do you like eating out? Or theatre? I know you said no experience days but is there a nice restaurant you'd want to try or a show you want to see/would want to see again?

Depending on where you are/shopping habits already, voucher for a farm shop and you can have a proper mooch for foodie gifts to see you through a good few months 😂

I'd also peruse the Daylesford website, I'm forever finding stuff on there I desperately want but isn't a necessity 😂 These glasses are top of my list currently but know they're not for everyone ... https://www.daylesford.com/shop/homeware/tableware/glassware/happy-glass?gadsource=1&gbraid=0AAAAABzGUtzf1n7yZ-qGa9OmpndakfmQh&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhfPnkpzAiQMVzpNQBh2gsyFWEAQYAiABEgKyvPDD_BwE

Any hobbies you've always wanted to try? Painting/gardening/board gaming?

Some really nice make up and beauty bits from the higher end counters?

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 03/11/2024 13:20

Sorry ignore me I missed that you put that

For me, it would be a book splurge definitely

Some great ideas. I'm off to look at links and see what I can find. I know it's a really nice problem to have and I am very grateful.

Im.looking at a gorgeous Fossil (raquel )watch. At £169 its a bit pricey but hoping it comes down in price soon.. not interested in smart watches etc i like a classic look watch

BeaLola · 03/11/2024 16:26

Depends what you like obviously - for me I'd be thinking of any of the below

  • hyacinths
  • dahlia tubers for next year
  • tickets to see Paddington at cinema or the new Hugh Grant film (nothing beats going to the cinema)
  • a local historic place with garden - yearly membership for my local one is £28 but I get to stroll through it all year
  • bottle of sapling vodka
  • alpaca bed socks
  • books
  • everyday pair of small silver hopped earrings
  • decent hands scrub and cream
  • bath oil lake Aromathrapy Associates selection box
  • cashmere wrist warmers

If I wanted one large thing for budget then perhaps a lovely pair of earrings, picture/painting or concert /theatre tickets

Fossil often have sales and they usually offer 10% off if you sign up to their newsletter. I'm sure that previously I used the welcome code along with items on sale, which is unusual but wonderful.
