What are you 7 year old boys asking for this year?

I have a couple of bits for my ds but I am really struggling for the first time ever!

He's asked for Match Attax tins of cards, Portugal football kit, hoverboard (not sure about this one yet). I'm thinking of a rock tumbler (he's obsessed with rocks/gems/shiny things) I've also got him a Hot Wires set. Board games always go down well with him too, he loves Battleships.

Today in Smyths he wanted a pirate sword set and a gravitrax set. He has also asked for a squishmallow, snackles, a face cleansing cloth, CS Lewis Narnia books and curved nail files. The last thing he played with as fae blades and he also files his nails with them

Ooh yes i wanted to get a rock tumbler a few years ago but apparently they need to run for a few days and are loud? Would need to find a spot for it!

CuteOrangeElephant · 03/11/2024 23:09

My seven year old really wants Gravitrax, a type of marble run.

She said they have it at the after school club but she never gets to play with it because it gets hogged by all the boys.

dontforgetme · 04/11/2024 09:06

@WhatASadLittleLifeJayne ooo a joke book for 7 year olds. That's brilliant, my son would absolutely love that. Thank you!

@CuteOrangeElephant funnily enough ds mentioned a marble run last night! Will take a look at Gravitrax.

We got the Monster Jam Grave Digger trax monster truck last year and it's been good, we have used it on the beach and in the woods and camping, it's great as it can go in water and the trax gives it goo grip. We would definitely use it more but we always remember too late that we forgot to charge the battery.

What I've read is the bigger National Geographic one is ok, but not so much the smaller one, and there are better brands but I don't want to spend crazy money. Apparently you need a shed or garage or something to run it as they are loud. We have a Basement, which I'm hoping we won't be able to hear it from!

Other suggestions of things we have used consistently since last year: a magnet fishing set. Since my son is such a big treasure hunter 😂. He goes metal fishing every weekend with it, thankfully mostly with dad because I don't want to spend every Sunday mornings next to a canal or lake. The chillfactor slushcup has been used at least once a week here too. He enjoyed the geode smashing set he has but that was short lived, and he also really loves those dig/mine for gems/fossils sets. He likes his metal detector, and table top football/hockey table. He also uses our doorway Gorilla Gym every single day, but we've had that for years. He turns 8 in January.

Gravitax is brilliant though 7 year olds might need a bit of help with it.
