@BaileyBooMum Etsy would be an excellent source

maybe these?

Does it have to be a “grandparent” gift. I’m a grandpa’s thank goodness I’ve not been given any of that stuff - they get me things for me - not my role as a grandparent, saying that if they did I’d pretend to like it!!

Whatamess23 · 31/10/2024 19:11

What about a photo book? I like the ones where you can add writing, my mum loves them.
Or book a day out with grandson somewhere special. Or professional photo shoot with grandson - usually get people doing christmas ones that aren't too expensive.

Hand and foot prints on a tile?? We did this for my son's first Christmas.....now 6'2 🤣🤣🤣🤣 don't think we could get a tile big enough 🤣🤣

beetr00 · 31/10/2024 19:21

@shellyleppard so cute...🌻

A framed photo of grandson with grandparents. As a granny, I would love it.

Fergie51 · 31/10/2024 20:57

Sorry just read you are looking for unique.

Not particularly unique but if they will have a Christmas tree, a lovely bauble, then you can carry on each year, will remind them of their new grandchild every time they look at it / hang it in years to come

Not necessarily, they will be getting gifts from us in general but as this is a 1st Christmas gift from a baby that nearly wasn’t here to a grandpa who is a step grandpa who also very nearly wasn’t here I want it to be a meaningful keepsake gift but not the same old thing you get just because it has Grandparents written on it.

Photos in a unique way would work, we thought of 3D laser engraved photos but they can be expensive & sometimes don’t look nice so didn’t want to risk it & couldn’t think of another way.

I like this idea although they wouldn’t have anywhere to put them but it gave me an idea for stepping stones with footprints for the garden instead. Thank you
also thank you for the mental image of you trying to get your 6’2 son to stand on tile without breaking it 😂😂 i think your parents would love to receive another tile 😂

Sorry I should have added that we don’t live in the same country & we are visiting for Christmas so that limits what we can do in the way of days out. Photos & videos are sent daily in a shared online album so the physical photo book is nice, but it’s something my sister does for them with her children.

How about a family photo calendar with the newest pictures you got? You can design one yourself, there is a tool for that, you'll just have to print it and photo stores usually do that no problem. Or a photo book of all the family photos including theirs (from their wedding day, birthdays, etc)? The old photos could also be colorized in Photoshop or Photoglory and reprinted as modern looking ones, I did this for my grandmother and she loved the "colorful versions".

diggermama · 01/11/2024 06:56

Hi OP, how about the Willow Tree figurines? Grandmother and Grandfather. I got these for my parents first Christmas as grandparents, though I appreciate you mention yours are already grandparents. Quite a unique gift, and gorgeous.

Have you got any pottery painting by you? Most places do Christmas baubles and if you ask the staff will do the writing ect for you? I recently hand painted a bowl for an aunt and uncle.

GettingStuffed · 01/11/2024 11:14

My DS and DDiL gave up gingerbread clay figures for one Christmas .

They smelt gorgeous the first year but the scent has now gone completely but they still get hung out every Christmas
